Though no official data exists for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 just yet, there is already one report on how Qualcomm’s newest chip will outperform the 8 Elite Gen 5. We’re not just talking about raw power here, but also power efficiency due to the new 2 nm architecture.

According to a new report (translated source) from a very reliable source that has ties to the supply chain, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 already exists. This source has used the new processor on an engineering sample of a new device and is able to relay just how much better the 8 Elite Gen 6 is.
Apparently, under heavy load — like playing demanding mobile games such as Genshin Impact — the power draw of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is approximately 10 percent lower than its predecessor. This power draw falls even further when the chip is being used for less demanding tasks.

Though usually each year’s new processors are better than the last due to certain improvements, the 8 Elite Gen 6 has another thing going for it. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 was built on a 3 nm architecture, but the 8 Elite Gen 6 is being built on a 2 nm architecture instead.

Ultimately, what this means is that Android flagships that use the latest and greatest Snapdragon chips are about to see a significant improvement. Newer flagships powered by the 8 Elite Gen 6 will be faster and they will help the battery last longer as well, which is always welcome.
