LG has no plans to update the G4 to Android 5.1.1 at the moment, could the G4 jump straight to M?
Last week, the Greek branch of LG announced that there are no plans to update the 2014 LG flagship, the LG G3, to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Today it was confirmed by a couple of sources that LG isn't planning to update the G4 to Android 5.1.1 anytime soon either.

Both O2 UK and LG Hellas took to Facebook to respond to customer queries regarding a possible Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the LG G4, and both sources revealed that there are no plans to launch the update in the near future.

Since the LG G4 runs Android 5.1.0 Lollipop out of the box, this is probably not the worst kind of news for LG G4 owners. Check out our detailed LG G4 review to find out how the 5.1 version of Lollipop averages out on the latest LG flagship smartphone.

Back when LG announced that the G3 will not get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop in the near future, many took this as indication that the manufacturer might be planning to update its former flagship device straight to Android M, the new Android version that is set to roll out later this year. If such a move is plausible for the LG G3, we see no reason for the manufacturer not to be planning more of the same for the LG G4. Unfortunately, in the lack of such an announcement from LG, this idea is purely wishful thinking at this point.
