Image of Motorola DROID RAZR leaks on teaser site
Share:
A little less than a week ago we posted a photo that appeared to be the Android packing Motorola DROID RAZR. That image goes right along with the leaked photo that was pulled from Motorola’s teaser site. The DROID RAZR looks to fit nicely with the design signature that Motorola has used for other Verizon handsets, such as the DROID X and DROID X2, in the past. It is a slab-style Android device that has an unusual hump on the
back where the camera goes.
The DROID RAZR is expected to have a 4.3-inch (540x960), Super AMOLED display in addition to its razor-thin design. Powering the device is rumored to be a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. An 8 megapixel camera should occupy the hump on the back that can also record video in full 1080p HD. A front-facing camera is present to aid in taking those pesky self-portraits and video chatting over the blazingly fast 4G LTE network that the DROID RAZR will support.
In a matter of hours we will know all that there is to know about Motorola’s latest flagship. Motorola seems to building this thing up as the greatest thing since sliced bread so let’s all hope that the DROID RAZR can deliver on the promises.

This would be just THAT much better if it had ICS but oh well. I still feel bad for Bionic owners, not only did they have to wait 6-7 months for it to finally come out but only 2 months later is it's successor lol.

Meet the REAL Droid X 2, with proper LTE.
It ain't pretty, but it's uniquely Motorola.

My friend bought Bionic 2 weeks ago I should told him wait but he needed a new phone, now is too late for Razr.

The Bionic is still a great device. This phone's only real seeming advantage will be its thinness. Just saying.

And if the rumors are correct, a superior screen, which counts for half the user experience in my book.

I've actually gotten used to the Pentile on my Atrix. I only really notice the pixelation if I look for it anymore. Color reproduction is extremely sharp though.

But that's the point... if you buy a top of the line phone like the Bionic, you shouldn't have to "get used to" anything. If I'm paying $300, I shouldn't have to compromise.
Just admit it, Moto fans - a 4.3" PenTile LCD was a bad idea.

I agree I did not like the pixilation on the Bionic. I'm hopping the RAZR will have a noticeably less pixilated screen.
If the rumors of water resistance are true I'm picking it up with out a doubt.

Okay, fair enough. I was a little disappointed with the Pentile display on the Atrix at first too. And if I had to pay 300 bucks for a phone I wouldn't want to feel like I just stepped back a year and a half in screen tech. I believe there were some behind the scenes advantages to Pentile though, which may be why Motorola experimented with it this year. Clearly if they're dropping it for future phones they're paying attention to customer feedback.

It's not even just that, but it's SUPER AMOLED on a qHD display. That has never been done before and it will make a huge advantage. Super Amoled is gorgeous, even if it's not "plus" its still soooooo much better than normal LCD displays.
And from what I understand, it also has a overlocked processor at 1.2ghz which is what 20 some percent faster?
And again, it'll be the first LTE phone that isnt a brick and even compared to non LTE phones, it is still very thin.
So yea kuds to Motorola for stepping it up and basically saying "we are sorry for the huge delay with the Bionic, here's something now and much better"
NOW with that said, if you are already over your 14 day period with your Bionic(im sorry!) it's still a decent phone for sure. But if you have not gotten a Bionic or are still under the 14 day period. Then return it and wait to get this one.
BESIDES ITS THE SECOND COMING OF THE RAZR. The most popular name in cell phones PERIOD.

the thinness, the Kevlar body, the possible OMAP4460 and the SA qHD display. i would've rather spent my $300 on the RAZR than the Bionic which just came out less than a month ago. T-T
30. RORYREVOLUTION posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:22 0 0
Exactly what I'm saying. The RAZR has every advantage over the Bionic and will probably be the same price, if not cheaper.

I've always liked Motorola's design aesthetics. Sure, they're not traditionally pretty, but they have character. It's like a girl who has a nose that's just a smidge too long, but has deep, lovely eyes and a beautiful smile.
This phone looks like it'll be kickass, a worthy sub for the SGS2 for Verizon. I just hope they don't overprice it. Sell it for 250 tops.

I like the design too. Its not elegant but it has alot of character.
37. bossmt_2 posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:42 1 0
I like the design. If it wasn't for the superior features and immediate ICS of the Droid Prime (plus google will probably subsidize the cost a bit) I'd consider this harder. The Slimness, LTE, the water resistance, seems like a really nice phone overall.

16. Sniggly posted on 17 Oct 2011, 19:42 0 0
Ah yes, right. Thank you. :) the release of the DROID Razr won't make the Bionic an automatic s**t sandwich. I agree. :)
18. Thump3rDX17 posted on 17 Oct 2011, 19:51 0 0
but it'll still make you sick if you paid the same $300 for it that the RAZR will cost.

Although great indeed an event.. VW is going to have a great lineup of Android devices..let us not forget...HTC Rezound/Vigor....Nexus Prime with. ICS...those will be heavy hitters to contend with...going to be hard choices to make for all.

i remember Jeff. he was immensly knowlegable and quite informative. one of the greats around here.
44. Sniggly posted on 18 Oct 2011, 00:14 2 0
Yeah, Jeff was really cool. But I do have to say, this is the most cohesive community I've run across since the early days of Facebook (before Zuckerberg completely ruined the discussion thread interface in groups). Think about it; this community has grown and remained mostly stable for a couple of YEARS. I even remember glancing at old articles and seeing a couple of you posting before Obama was elected, and now we're coming up on the next election year.
It's one of the reasons I keep coming back, despite the endless circle between Android and iPhone (and the occasional nutty bade lover ;) )- I keep getting to see the same people, and have gotten to know some of you guys pretty well (considering this isn't a social network with full profiles and such).

So, is this really the tegra folks were talking about 6 months ago that got moved up to be the bionic????? This thing looks very close to that protype not the release Bionic.
Side note: I get so tired of folks saying they feel bad for someone who bought an earlier addition phone. Regardless of what you buy, it will be old and outdated in 6 months max. Be happy with your purchase and keep it moving....
33. roldefol posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:26 0 0
I'm still not sure which phone was supposed to be released when. The Tegra definitely definitely became the Bionic. I don't know when the Razr was meant to be released on the original schedule, or if it was supposed to be the X3... Early leaks called this the Droid HD, but given how much Google talked up the Razr in their Motorola acquisition announcements, maybe they pushed to revive the Razr name.
36. Phullofphil posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:38 0 0
The earlier bionic was pretty much a copy of the atrix 1 with an lte radio instead. Also the nvidia tegra two processor and some other down
38. Phullofphil posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:50 0 0
Lo
Ave the phone i have a bionic but i baught it broken so i still have an up grade. It kind of bugs me that they say it is thinnest phone but has that big camera hump does not count. Phone thickness should be measured at the thickest part. Any way it def is thinner by far than my bionic and it has faster processor of the same type omap. Plus i believe other upgrades. I am just wondering if the battery looses power even faster
34. biophone posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:29 2 0
You droids will get outdated as well. Err lets see quad core is coming out ics is coming out 4G is getting faster battery life is getting better phones are getting slimmer regardless of iphone or android its going to be outdated. I dont feel bad for bionic owners they still have a great phone not just decent. Right now the bionic in my opinion is still the best phone a availab regardless of carrier.
35. THE_RAY posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:35 0 0
Nope, not an apple fan. I do have an Ipod touch though. I currently own the original droid and will be off loading it by Christmas with one of these new beast. My point is strictly to be happy with your purchase. You never know for sure what will be coming out soon but know most likely it will be better than your current phone. Don't get mad at the manufactures just
29. itzmando posted on 17 Oct 2011, 20:18 0 0
Very Nice! Sounds great on paper! Want to test it out in person. Im due for an upgrade already, but have been holding off on which 4G phone to upgrade on. Currently have a D2 Global in White.
Which is just a phenomenal phone and love the keyboard but its a bit bulky due to the keyboard so since there are only like 2-3 keyboard optioned phones on VzW that I dont really like I might jump ship and go with full touch screen.
Cannot wait for Moto to introduce this phone, i personally like the materials used since the majority of smartphones are all black, and very "plasticy" so to speak. At least with a Kevlar case its slim, durable(All motos are durable) and the carbon fiber look seems special in its own away.
=Win for me.

I wanted the DX but i just dont like the hard keys at the bottom and power right in the middle of phone on top. This has the DX feel, Photon upper look, power on the side, dual core and 4G. Everything i want. This will surely be my phone. not even going to wait for nexus. not long from now til we get full details.
