BlackBerry Neon / Hamburg price allegedly for about $270 unlocked
According to a fresh report from BlackBerry's home market of Canada, the manufacturer's upcoming mid-range handset (a device that is known as the BlackBerry Neon or the BlackBerry Hamburg) will be priced at about $350 CAD (about $268 USD at the current conversion rates) when it launches later this year.

Interestingly, this new rumor was launched just hours after we've spotted the BlackBerry Hamburg / Neon making the rounds in the FCC database. Along with some of the notable hardware specs for the BlackBerry Hamburg, the FCC listing also revealed that the phone will be manufactured by TCL, the company that currently owns the Alcatel brand.

According to a previous GFXBench leak, the BlackBerry Hamburg / Neon will be very similar to the Alcatel Idol 4 in terms of hardware specs. The leaked benchmark result lists specs such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC with a 1.5GHz octa-core CPU, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of integrated storage, and 5.2-inch display running at 1920 by 1080 pixels.

In the imaging department, the new 'Berry is expected to come with a 13MP primary camera and an 8MP selfie shooter with wide angle lens. Android 6.0.1 is expected to be preloaded on the device, obviously with BlackBerry's trademark security solutions on top.

The new report from Canada states that the BlackBerry Neon will be priced at about $270 and that the release date is set for sometime this August. Given the mid-range specs and the fierce competition in this emerging segment of the smartphone market, the price doesn't strike us as particularly low.

According to previous rumors, the BlackBerry is already working on three new Android devices following the Priv. The Neon is expected to be the first to hit the market, followed by the supposedly larger BlackBerry Argon in October and the BlackBerry Mercury - a phone with a physical keyboard - at some point next year.

In a recent statement, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that his company plans to discuss new hardware sometime next week. As such, chances are that it won't be long before we learn more about the BlackBerry Neon from the proverbial horse's mouth.
