4-inch Apple iPhone 6c to be released in the middle of next year?
Last July, Jefferies' analyst Ange Wu reported that Foxconn had landed a huge order for metal casings to be used for an Apple iPhone 6c. Wu added that the phone would be released in the first half of 2016. Now, over four months later, we are hearing the same story from IHS Technology Research Director Kevin Wang.

Wang posted the information on his Weibo page, and the only spec mentioned is the 4-inch display that the phone will carry. Making the story much more plausible is that it's somewhat confirmed by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. When it comes to Apple, no analyst has a track record like Kuo. Back in April, he correctly predicted that Apple would not introduce a 4-inch unit during the September introduction of the latest iPhone models.

Earlier this month, Kuo said that Apple was prepping a 4-inch iPhone that would be mass produced during the first half of this year. Unlike Wu and Wang's story, Kuo sees the new 4-inch model released next fall, along with the Apple iPhone 7 and presumably the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. The smaller-screened model will be powered by the Apple A9 chipset says Kuo, at a time when the iPhone 7 will be rockin' the new A10 SoC. According to Kuo, the 4-inch phone will be presented by Apple as a budget priced handset for smartphone buyers.

Thanks for the tip!

Just what everyone needs. A 4" Smartphone that you can actually put in your pocket!
But since its Apple, low specs doesn't necessarily means low price... If Apple 'squeeze' its price around the $300 Mark, I for one shall be greatly interested...

Talk about day dreaming!

What would be "low specs" in this device?

Like 2 year old specs in a 2016 phone, aka outdated resolution and 1 GB of ram + 16GB of internal storage. Yes, this phone will have the aforementioned components :D. On top of that, it will cost about 600euros in EU, lmao.

@aesthetics I quote: "The smaller-screened model will be powered by the Apple A9 chipset says Kuo, at a time when the iPhone 7 will be rockin' the new A10 SoC".

Its just rumours at the moment, but the way I see it:
Apart from the 'previous' generation SoC & smaller screen; one can expect 1GB of RAM as the upcoming A10 SoC is rumored to feature 2GB of RAM. And since it has a 4" Display; a smaller resolution & lower pixel density isn’t out of equation. And please keep in mind that the previous ‘dumbed down’ iPhone; The iPhone 5C had a plastic body.
And as such, its pretty safe to assume that this phone... Er... Lets just call it iPhone Minus for the time being (coined by a PhoneArena Member! Hats off to him!) will most certainly feature "LOWER SPECS"...
But feel free to disagree.

I expect it to be $499 because Apple's definition of budget doesn't exactly equal everyone else's definition of budget.

Sounds like they're just going to put call and text capabilities to their current ipod. But this is great for apple fans who don't want to spend to much money on the flagship ones.

Can't wait for everyone to copy this move, finally some competition in the smaller but powerful handset market other than just Sony.

Samsung isn't likely to. And such could harm thier sales of Phablets.

This phone must have ' Made for iSheeps' written on the back of ir because no one other than an iSheep will buy such device with outdated specs.

This phone will be unmatched becaouse ohter "modern" sepec phones will be HUGE and the closest competitor to this will be the way bigger and way more outdated Z5 compact.

No. It will be priced at $549 if the base model starts with 16 gig or $499 if the base starts with 8 gig which is very likely for Apple to do just that. I wouldn't be surprised if the sales are slow they bring out a cheaper model starting at $399 with 4 gig competitively enough priced against the new Nexus models. Lol.
