VX-6100/LG-6100

Phone owned for

5 years with this phone. Had it unlocked, flashed and on pre-paid not with Verizon Wireless. Still works as good as the first day purchased. Shell has been replaced due to use. With bluetooth, this would be the complete CDMA package!Be sure to purchase the extended 1700mah battery with the compatible case cover.

One of The Best Phones Ever Made

Phone owned for

This is one of the best phones i have ever used and I'll tell you why, it has a great design so it can fit into your pocket nicley without that buldge, the screen is just right so it's not to small like i notice with Motorola phones, and I think the sounds quality is great. I have Verizon and out of the year i have had this phone I have no complaints about the quality of sound. My only Con for this phone is that once in a while the screen will go white for no reason but if you just press a button it seems to snap out of it.

Excellent phone when in network

Phone owned for

The LG VX-6100 is an excellent phone when your in network. I've noticed when roaming however that the voice quality can degrade slightly. Other than that though I have experienced no problems with it besides battery life which is easily fixed by buying the expanded battery for thirty dollars. All in all it is an excellent phone as long as you are in network.

LG6100 DROPPED CALLS

Phone owned for

I have the 6100, my son has it, and my mom has it.......we are all experiencing dropped calls and lost calls ALL the time. Verizon's only solution is to keep relacing the phone with the same model. We get a replacement and its the same problem over and over again. My boyfriend has the 9100, and never drops calls. His daughter has the 5200 and never drops calls. We DO NOT WANT the 6100 anymore but we're stuck with them, unless we want to buy a new model at 25% off the full retail price...who can afford that?????? I paid enough for these phones already, I cant afford to replace all 3 of them!!!!!!!!

I waited for my upgrade for this phone, and I love it. The features are great- the tip calculator, the driving mode, the voice activated dial-- I love it! I travel a lot, and I have had great service with this phone. Just make sure that the software is the most up-to- date and you will have great luck with this phone!

Poor Reception and Dropped Calls

Phone owned for

LG6100 on Verizon Wireless network has major issues with poor voice quality, i.e., bad reception and call drops. I have changed this phone two times and still continue to face similar problems. I am wondering if this is a common problem experienced by other LG6100 owners on all wireless network or it is specific to Verizon Wireless.

Also want to know what LG is doing to resolve this problem. Verizon Wireless does not seem to have a solution for it except to keep changing the phone for the same make and model, which is not working.

I can't appreciate the phone features anymore if it can't even perform the basic voice functions, a must have for a phone!

LG 6100 poor transmission quality

Phone owned for

The phone does two things I do not like. First it is very quite for the first several seconds after you answer it. Second it drops calls and does not have the signal all my other verizon phones have had. I am very disappointed in this particular phone on the road. In town seems fine.

Verizon Wireless Hit The Mark With This LG!

Phone owned for

I have had my phone for about one month now. Overall, I like this phone the best as compared to my LG XV4500 (original first one since with Verizon).

The speakerphone works very good. One minor annoyance though. I had brought the phone back to Verizon within it's 15 day trial because I had an occasional hissing, static and crackle noise over the speakerphone on a call. The local Verizon store's tech people proceeded to check it out. He swore up and down that there was nothing wrong with the phone and that the signal or network could cause this to happen. I had said then, why not on the earpiece also? Hmmm. It just does it very seldom to matter. Maybe it is the network.

Anyway, great vibrant and very clear sharp color screen. The call clarity is noteworthy both ways.
The voice activated commands work pretty accurately.
The camera and it's functions work pretty slick actually for a phone. The keys on it's pad spaced very well apart for super functionality so you won't 'fat finger' them when dialing.

I love this phone and I am glad I bought it. The best one yet from Verizon besides perhaps the 6000. This one is worth a look.

Great usability

Phone owned for

The VX6100 has a very well designed user interface. It is very easy to use given all of the features it provides.

My previous phone was a Sony Ericson T60(?) with Metro PCS service; the phone was horribly slow and very hard to use -- it had a very poorly thought out user interface. The VX6100 is far better.

I had a Moto v120 and the reception on the 6100 is superior. It is easy to use, better recept, louder rings and speaker. Camera is OK for what it is. I have 3 of these and we are all pleased. Have suggested them to friends.

PC Connection

Phone owned for

How do you connect this phone to the computer? Is there a USB cable you can buy? Can it be synced with Microsoft Outlook? I think this phone offers great value, considering all the features. I talked to several people who work for Verizon and they all said it's the best phone they have now (aside from the "smart" PDA phones, perhaps).

love the phone but it would be better if ...

Phone owned for

Im pleased with my phone, when i bought it; however, i was looking for a phone which could take video aswell as pictures and i was assured by the salesperson at verizon that this one could. Go figure it cant ... all in all i like the design, and the features and i get really good service (better than my A310 i had which i had to take the battery out sometimes to get it to work) i just wish the idiot at the verizon store knew what they were talking about.

Does anyone know the purpose of the multishot feature (where it takes 2 pictures at once) can you infact make like a slideshow for the background (much like the snowboarding/surfing one that it comes with)? and if so how?

Speakerphone

Phone owned for

I just received my vx6100 and I am loving it so far. A couple questions though, for those of you who have already had the phone for a while...

1.) What is driving mode and it's advantages?

2.) How do I turn the speaker phone on and off?

worthless as a phone

Phone owned for

this phone reception SUCKS really bad. Whenever I go to areas with very good (i stress -> very good) then i can make calls fine. Once in my house or at at park close to my house, I consistently drop calls. I've read reviews about how good reception is at a VZW store and calls are clear but out there in the real world, forget it. Another problem I found was it kept going to Analog from digital where my old phone never did. IT just shows how poor this thing is in holding reception. It's basically a useless phone. FOrget the nice screen and camera, if it can't handle the basics, who cares abou the extra bells and whistles...

Phone owned for

Purchased 2 of these a few days ago, (verizon has buy 1 get up to 3 free for $50.) So far very happy with them, both screens crystal clear and both speaker phones load and clear. Speaker phone was origionally slightly distorted, but turning down volume slightly fixed that, still PLENTY load. BTY, came with 2 $50 rebates, so it looks like I will make $50 on the deal. I will be sure to update if something goes wrong with them, Very happy for now.

My Pretty Phone Sucks

Phone owned for

Today is a very sad day for me. I have been a satisfied Verizon customer since 1999, but my new phone has the poorest reception I have ever experienced.

Unlike my old Kyocera, my new LG VX6100 drops out of service numerous times throughout the day. And service in my house is nonexistant.

The phone itself is the nicest ever. I love all of its features-even the buttons on the side that I accidentally push, but I cannot live with such bad reception when I rely on the phone as my only communication source aside from e-mail.

Cons: Reception!

Great Phone

Phone owned for

I had the VX4500 prior to this phone. The VX6100 blows it away. It feels better made and the buttons seem more sure. The only feature that the VX4500 seems better is the speakerphone. The vx6100 has a decent speakerphone but seems a little distorted and not as loud as the vx4500. I also find it hard to adjust the phone volume while I'm using it. The side buttons are both useful and funky. The phone will go into camera mode if pressed too long. I had the phone for a while before I realized that the outer LCD screen can be used as a viewfinder for self-portraits. I still have trouble getting it to work.
I'm glad LG got rid of the phone cradle for the power adapter like that the vx4500 had. Now the adapter plugs directly into the phone. Overall, I find the VX6100 a great phone. I use it for business and pleasure. I highly recommend it.

reception switches from digital to analog to no signal

Phone owned for

i had this a week now. before this, i had a motorola v60. reception was great on motorola. with this one, i constantly get dropped calls in my house. not only that, it switches to Analog constantly. tried to turn off Analog, now it switches between digital and no signal all the time. my motorola v60 tri-mode stayed on digital with 3 bars anywhere i go in my house. i guess LGs are made of cheap stuff. everything external is plastic, i guess internally, everything is like a hyundai. it's good i'm still in my 15 day trial so i can return it and get something better than this.

Had high hopes for the VX6100 but

Phone owned for

The main reason I didn't keep my VX7000 was the features it lacked and this LG had. The Speaker Phone and Driving Mode are the main ones that the VX7000 should've had and I would have been completely satisfied and I wouldn't be writing this review now. I received the 6100 72hrs ago and here are my preliminary opinions: 1) The Speaker Phone sound quality was very distorted even on the lowest setting. 2) The ergonomics are fair, because the buttons instead of being large and flat like on the 7000 are slightly smaller and rounded so you have to be carefull that you don't slide off the one you intended and therefore end up misdialing. 3) The Commands Prompt feature works flawlessly and was easy to train. It learned my voice quickly and has done everything accurately and without mistake. 4) Driving Mode activates Speaker Phone and Command Prompt but you must have the phone open and then you can truly operate your phone hands free. Unfortunately the poor sound quality of the Speaker Phone doesn't make it an enjoyable experience. The screens can only be described as fuzzy at best, when it comes to looking at the icons across the top you can barely make out what some of them. I had to look at the book and then at the screen to determine what the icon was, and I would attribute it to the black line with outlined in white makes it very difficult to make out small icons on the internal color screen. On the outside the icons are only slightly better because they aren't outlined like on the color screen. In addition one line thru the middle of the icons on the external screen died just 20hrs after being turned on. The color screen looks fine while using the menus and txt messaging and I think the icons would be more legible if you could turn off the white outlining. The bottom line is I can't see me living with this phone for 2yrs so I'll either have to live with the VX7000 without features that it should have, at least it looks, feels and sounds like a QUALITY phone.
