I have had this phone for over 2 years and never had even one problem. Its a good, basic phone which is all I want or need and for $10 I did not expect it to last 2+ years but its still going.
My display crashed today. The phone is slow, battery dies soon. Not good for heavy users. Only good for light users.
This is a generally good, convient cellphone, I would buy another if I lost it. Could use more freebie ringtones and backgrounds. Some menus are awkard, but the buttons are reliable.
I find the battery charge lasts 3+ days on standby and over a full day of heavy calling, would like more time but this is acceptable. Don't understand the problems some others are having with battery drainage, my experience has been better.
My one complaint is battery life. While standby time is advertized as 8.33 days, I only averaged 12-14 hours, provided I made no calls. Two or three short (1-2 minute)calls and the battery was done.
I contacted Virgin Mobile and they are sending a replacement.
The back light is almost constantly on, so its very hard to get a day's worth of life out of this.
you could probably make about 3 calls in one day, and not have to charge it.
the design is cool, looks kind of star-wars ish, with the black and white.
We are experiencing the exact same problems with 2 other Oystr models, battery standby is TERRIBLE. I will pass this phone on to an elderly relative who needs a useless prepaid and doesn't mind keeping it plugged in between drives to the doc or grocery store but we are terribly disappointed after using TREO 650s for a year and switching to prepaids like this, it is nearly astonishing how bad the phones are....or that we even paid for them. LOL. I guess you can still get junk from a name brand.
I have owned a number of the Kyocera phones, the last held a stand by charge of 3 to 5 days. This phone while an excellent value for price and great features, does not last more than 28 hours on a charge. I thought perhaps I and my wife (who also purchased one)had received bad batteries. So, I exchanged the battery (same type) from my previous kyocera phone which I knew lasted 3 to 5 days. And am still receiving the same 28 hours of standby use. To exclaim that any phone is capable of holding a charge for 800 hours is a farse. If this type of battery is being shown to some overpaid exec to get his approval, it is not the same battery you buy off the counter. But in this case regardless , it must be a design flaw in the phone. As We have been very happy with kyocera phones in the past we took no thought to saving the receipts and/or packaging. And now feel stuck with a phone that must be charged each and every day.
