YouTube allows you to put your thoughts about the video you are watching in the comment section. Since its inception, YouTube has only allowed making comments via text and emoji, but now you can use one more element in the comments.
YouTube is bringing GIF support to comments
There have been a good number of posts on online community forums like Reddit in the last few days, with users basically sharing images of themselves being able to use GIFs in YouTube comments. The feature is apparently limited to the YouTube app at the moment.
It seems the ability is being rolled out gradually, since many users mentioned that it is not available for them. I also checked on my Pixel 10 that has the latest version of the YouTube app installed, but for me also, unfortunately, the feature is not available.
What's your thought on this big upgrade for YouTube comments?

The feature was announced last month
The ability to use GIFs in comments was announced last month during the Made on YouTube event. Users will be able to post GIFs under videos and Shorts, and these GIFs will come from a dedicated YouTube library.
Currently, it is not known whether users will be able to upload their own creations to this library. Interestingly, the feature does not seem limited to Premium subscribers, and that is actually a great thing, as even a normal YouTube user can take advantage of such a fun update.
The reaction is mostly negative

Most users who currently have access to this feature appear not to like it. One user commented under a relevant Reddit post that it will ruin the YouTube feel. Another user mentioned that it looks like a new technique from YouTube to generate engagement. TikTok also supports GIFs, and some users believe that the YouTube comment section would get filled with sloppy GIFs just as is the case with the TikTok comment section.
A disable button would be really appreciated
Looking at the early reaction to this new feature, I believe YouTube will soon have to introduce an option that lets users disable it. Whether this will happen or not is something we will find out in the future. Interestingly, many other short and reel apps like Instagram also support GIFs, but unlike on YouTube, users appear to really like this capability on those platforms.
