If you have been ignoring those nagging pop-ups in the Fitbit app for months, this is your final warning. The clock is running out, and Google is not bluffing this time.
What is happening on May 19
Fitbit users have until May 19, 2026 to move their existing Fitbit account over to a Google account, according to a new report. After that date, your old Fitbit login simply stops working.
This deadline was originally set for early 2026, however, Google extended it back in January to give users more breathing room. That extra runway is almost gone now.
What you actually lose if you ignore it

Here is the part that should worry long-time Fitbit users: your data is on the chopping block too. On July 15, Google will start deleting old Fitbit data that has not been migrated to a Google account.
Years of step counts, sleep logs, workout history, and weight trends, all of it can disappear if you do not act. For anyone who has been tracking their health since the original Fitbit Charge days, that is a brutal loss.
What's keeping you from migrating your Fitbit account?
Already done it ages ago, no drama here.

How to migrate your account in under five minutes
The process is genuinely simple. Make sure your Fitbit app is up to date, then follow these steps:
Steps to migrate Fitbit to a Google account
Open the Fitbit app on your phone.
Tap your profile photo in the top corner.
Select Move Fitbit to your Google account.
Tap Move Account, then pick the Google account you want to use.
Review your health data, agree to the terms, and tap Agree & move.
That is it. If you have multiple Google accounts, just pick the one you actually want tied to your fitness life going forward.
Unifying logins also unlocks newer perks like the Gemini-powered AI health coach, which now runs on a Google account by default.
Just rip the bandaid off
I migrated my Fitbit account to a Google account years ago, back when the option first became available, and the whole thing took maybe five minutes. There is no clever workaround coming, no last-minute reversal, and no reason to keep stalling.
If you actually care about your fitness history, open the app as soon as possible and get it over with. You do not want years of data to evaporate on July 15 because you forgot.
