Not too small, not too big, this one strives to be perfect! | Image by RedMagic
If you ask me what's the best gaming phone today, I'd advise you to go with the budget-friendly RedMagic 11 Pro. It has it all and it doesn't break the bank!
Sure, the Galaxy S26 Ultra or the iPhone 17 Pro Max are excellent choices as well, but let's go big. Let's step into the gaming tablets territory.
And if you ask me what's the best tablet for playing games on it, I'd suggest you check out the brand-new RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which was teased a week ago. Well, now it's a fact!
On international markets, it'll be called the RedMagic Astra 2 Gaming Tablet, so if you stumble upon it – don't hesitate, it's the same thing!
This bad boy comes with the industry's first active liquid cooling system (in a tablet), but that's not the end of it.

The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro in a nutshell:
9.06-inch 2.4K 185Hz OLED esports display
Transparent RGB design
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset
Additional RedCore R4 gaming chip
Advanced cooling architecture with a multi-layer thermal system to minimize throttling
8,300 mAh battery with up to 80W fast charging (China version only),
It's cool – literally and very much so!

At 9.06 inches, the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro isn't petite by any stretch of the imagination. You'll see much more clearly what's going on while gaming. But going past the 9-inch threshold can be tricky – mobile gaming isn't fun on humongous 14-inch displays.

The slate combines all the things that appeal to gamers who can't wait to get home and instead prefer to do their thing anywhere, anytime:
Top-notch performance
Active liquid cooling system
185Hz OLED esports display
Compact form factor with visible RGB lighting
What I particularly like about it is that its camera island isn't protruding and getting in the way when gaming.
But I'm most excited about its liquid cooling circulation system. It's visible thanks to the transparent rear panel, where you'll find the 11 precision-arranged (and customizable) LED units for the RGB lighting. If you're into such aesthetics, the LED will respond dynamically while gaming.
Behind the narrow 4.9mm bezels (90.1% screen-to-body ratio) the tablet's advanced thermal architecture promises to do its thing flawlessly.
Games can be particularly heavy on any gadget and nobody likes to hold a flaming-hot 9-inch tablet in their hands. But I think that RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro owners won't have to worry about it. The slate introduces the industry's first active liquid cooling system in a gaming tablet.
There's a fluorinated liquid coolant with an operating temperature range from -60°C to 125°C that excels at heat transfer while remaining electrically non-conductive (this is important for operational safety).
There's a minuscule pump that drives the coolant around (with minimal power consumption) and the Liquid Metal 3.0 thermal material, the large vapor chamber and the multi-layer heat dissipation architecture make extended gaming sessions without thermal throttling possible.
What's the most important feature of a gaming tablet?
Raw power! More raw power!
Qualcomm's finest chip is to be found under the tablet's hood. | Image by RedMagic
Qualcomm's current high-end chipset – the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 – is here. You know it, you love it, but there's more to it. The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro also comes with the proprietary RedCore R4 gaming chip and the Energy Cube 3.0 optimization engine.
These are super important. The RedCore R4 chip handles graphics-related (GPU) tasks such as rendering and memory management and reduces the workload on the main processor. This helps improve performance and keeps games running smoothly during long gaming sessions.
Energy Cube 3.0, on the other hand, uses AI to predict frames and adjust CPU, GPU and memory resources based on what is happening in the game. Together, these technologies help with:
Maintaining stable frame rates,
Improving power efficiency
Delivering smoother gameplay in FPS, MOBA and open-world games.
The display: a balm for sore eyes!

The tablet features a 2.4K OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, one of the highest available on a gaming tablet.
Its new display technology improves brightness, contrast, colors and power efficiency, while reaching up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness and 1,100 nits in full-screen mode for better visibility indoors and outdoors. To save battery life, the screen automatically switches between refresh rates ranging from 60Hz to 185Hz depending on the content.
The slate also uses a Synaptics S3930 touch chip for faster and more accurate touch input. It offers a 300Hz touch sampling rate, up to 2,000Hz instant touch response, and just 1ms touch latency for more responsive gameplay. As any dedicated gamer would tell you, this can be crucial.
A special wet-touch mode keeps the screen responsive even if your fingers are slightly wet or sweaty. The tablet also includes AI-powered adaptive lighting and eye protection features, such as reduced blue light and flicker-free technology, to make long gaming sessions more comfortable.
Big battery, faster charging, immersive audio

The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro packs an 8,300 mAh battery. The version sold in China supports 80W fast charging for quicker top-ups, while reverse charging lets the tablet power compatible accessories. It also features two USB-C ports, making it easier to charge while holding the tablet in landscape mode. Another design quirk that I love.
Both ports support bypass charging, which sends power directly to the system instead of the battery, helping reduce heat and improve battery lifespan during gaming.
The tablet has a four-speaker audio system with enhanced bass; security features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock and USB 3.2 Gen 2 for faster file transfers.
Since we're deep in 2026, no gadget would be fully functional without AI. Here we have the Mora AI Agent 2.0, which can optimize performance for games and everyday tasks. The software also includes AI tools for video editing and gameplay recordings, plus an e-book mode that helps reduce eye strain. Users can connect the tablet to an external display at up to 4K and 144Hz, with both wired and wireless screen casting supported.
And if that's not enough for you, let that sink in: the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro has been certified for several professional mobile esports tournaments, including competitions for games like Call of Duty: Mobile, CrossFire Mobile, Wild Rift and Arena Breakout.
Price and availability
The tablet launches today in China, available in black and silver color options in the following configurations:

16 GB+512 GB: 5,999 RMB (~$883 when directly converted)

As mentioned above, the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro will launch globally as the RedMagic Astra 2 Gaming Tablet. Global availability, pricing, and regional configurations will be announced on July 17, so make sure to stick around and we'll keep you posted!
