Two weeks before the iPhone Ultra is unveiled—or the iPhone Fold, whatever the moniker—Apple's first foldable iPhone is now up for preorder.
The foldable that got everyone talking (not everyone is smiling, though) is expected to materialize on September 9. That's not yet official, but it's the most probable date.
Caviar reveals real-life photos ahead of Apple

Here it is. It almost looks like a phone made of Damascus steel. It'll have its fans but this one costs $18,840 and while you obviously won't be able to get it in your pocket before September 9, it's fascinating that Caviar releases what it claims to be "real-life" images of the iPhone Ultra.
The customized variant is called the iPhone Ultra Liquid Metal and the mirror-polished sterling silver should evoke the idea of metal in a fluid state. There are ripples and the relief looks like a metal frozen in motion.
Of course, that's 925 sterling silver (a precious metal alloy made of 92.5% pure silver). It looks almost like mercury!
Caviar says the Liquid Metal design is intended to present silver in a less traditional way, using sculpted details to make the precious metal look almost fluid and frozen in motion. Rather than relying on conventional decorative elements, the design puts the silver, intricate relief and mirror-like finish at the center, giving it more of a collectible art-object feel.

The mirror polishing is particularly important because the surface changes dramatically depending on how light hits it, with some sections appearing dark while others produce a bright metallic shine.
