Samsung Galaxy Note 10 camera details revealed by insider

Back to the rear camera setup, though, as its design and positioning have been debated a lot over the past week. Now, thanks to some new insight from Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), who has a good record for Samsung leaks, we have a much better understanding of how the Galaxy Note 10 camera may look.

Recent leaks have suggested that the Galaxy Note 10 will have a vertical camera bump on its back. If this is really the case, then the camera module is very likely going to be offset to one side. A centered vertical module will take up too much precious space inside the device, which is needed for the rumored bigger battery of the Note 10.

The vertical orientation of the camera was then confirmed independently by Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks), who also went on to say that, in his opinion, the camera of the Galaxy Note 10 "looks bad" in comparison to the Note 9. In a separate tweet, another source with a good reputation—Max Weinbach of XDA—went even further by saying, "I think the Note 10 Pro is going to look MUCH worse than people think with current concept designs. Like much much worse."

In his latest tweet, Ice Universe provides a rudimentary sketch that shows how the Note 10's rear camera may be positioned. What's more interesting, though, is an alleged diagram of the camera module that will be used in the Galaxy Note 10. Using this information, we tried to visualize what the camera may look like:

Of course, since we don't have enough information at this point, we tried our best to guess the shape of the bump, as well as the positioning of the flash, which isn't present in the diagram. The sensors to the right of the three main lenses are likely a ToF (time of flight) camera and a flood illuminator. The flash module will likely be soldered onto the motherboard of the device, above or below the ToF camera and the illuminator.

But what about the heart rate sensor? Well, the Galaxy Note 10 may not feature a heart rate monitor at all. Such is the case with the Samsung Galaxy S10+ 5G, with which the Note 10 is expected to share many similarities, camera-wise. Considering the size of the Note 10 and the new design and location of the camera, Samsung may have decided to drop the heart rate sensor for numerous reasons, including to make things less cluttered and free up space.

Following recent rumors that the camera bump of the iPhone 11 may have a rather jarring design, the pieces of information we're learning about the Note 10 are starting to make sense. Having more, bigger, and better cameras in a phone, is making arranging them in a visually appealing way, without interfering with any of the hardware inside, increasingly difficult. Even so, if the latest leak is anything to go by, and the Note 10's camera really ends up looking like this, some people are sure to be disappointed.
