After two price hikes, the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G is actually affordable again on Prime Day
Samsung's cheapest Android handset can be a very smart buy for a certain type of user during Amazon's October Prime Day 2026 sale.

In other words, the unlocked 5G-enabled Samsung Galaxy A17 is today (and only today) more affordable than back when it made its US commercial debut at the very beginning of the year, although in the spirit of full disclosure, I should point out that the original $199.99 retail price was reduced by 25, 35, and even 50 bucks a few times in the phone's first few months of local availability.
But that's highly unlikely to happen again, and if you miss out on this Prime Day opportunity to save $80 on the current list price of the Galaxy A17 5G, I'm not sure you'll get a similar chance anytime soon. Yes, this feels very much like a Black Friday-grade deal, just as Amazon's latest member-exclusive Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra promotions do.
Of course, the Galaxy A17 5G is a way humbler device than its S-series cousins, nonetheless impressing in the long-term software support department with the promise of a grand total of six major OS updates after running Android 15 at launch and also packing a more than respectable 5,000mAh battery with decent 25W charging capabilities.
Yes, the notch is... bad, completely ruining an otherwise perfectly acceptable design, but the 90Hz refresh rate-capable Super AMOLED screen with 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution is pretty outstanding... for the sub-$200 segment right now. So, yes, I think you should at least consider a purchase here if you can't afford higher-end devices like the Galaxy A37 5G or Galaxy A57 5G.
