Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 Pro may boast supreme memory upgrades, but there's a catch
The latest Galaxy S27 Ultra and S27 Pro leak is both exciting and confusing.

The Galaxy S27 Ultra and S27 Pro may feature a significant memory upgrade after all. According to a new leak, the upcoming high-end flagship phones may debut LPDDR6 RAM, offering major improvements in performance and efficiency.
LPDDR6 RAM may not be out of the question

X leaker TheGalox_ teased that the first-ever Galaxy S27 Pro and the next-gen Ultra model could feature LPDDR6 RAM. Not only that, but the tipster suggests the devices may also pack UFS 5.1 storage.
If true, this could indeed be a major upgrade over the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, the leak slightly contradicts what we've heard so far and what Qualcomm itself stated recently.
Specifically, Qualcomm's promotional image of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 indicates support for UFS 5.0 storage rather than UFS 5.1.
Furthermore, another recent rumor suggested only one Galaxy S27 model may feature 16GB RAM. This is particularly notable given that Samsung Electronics recently announced it has validated LPDDR6 memory on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, but only in a 16GB configuration.

We are proud to have successfully completed sampling and validation of LPDDR6 on Qualcomm Technologies' next-generation mobile platform, following Samsung's industry-first LPDDR6 development.

Because of these conflicting details, I wouldn't take the rumor about both flagships getting LPDDR6 as a given just yet.
How much more would you pay for the Galaxy S27 Ultra?

Why is LPDDR6 such a big improvement?
Faster memory bandwidth is particularly important for intensive on-device AI tasks, which have become a staple of Galaxy S flagships over the past couple of years.
Is Snapdragon's next-gen chipset in the Galaxy S27 equation?

Next comes the truly important question. With Samsung validating a 16GB LPDDR6 solution for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, does this practically mean we can expect the processor on the Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 Pro?
This debate has been going on for some time, with multiple sources hinting toward a possible Snapdragon and Exynos split for different regions. The latest developments around LPDDR6 add another interesting piece to the puzzle, particularly given the close connection between Samsung's newly validated memory and Qualcomm's next-generation platform.
At this stage, we have no confirmation that Qualcomm's processor will power either or both flagships. But hey, hope dies last, right?

I'm confused now

Will Samsung ultimately pull an ace up its sleeve and truly make the Galaxy S27 Ultra the biggest upgrade we've seen in a while? There's certainly a possibility, though I'd be lying if I said I'm not confused already.
And yeah, I'm not talking about the S27 Pro here. At the end of the day, we haven't seen a Galaxy S27 Pro model yet, so it's not fair to talk about it being (or getting) a 'big upgrade.' But to me, all Galaxy S27 models are shaping up to be much more exciting than I initially thought.
