RayNeo unveils two fantastic new smart glasses: one for casual users and one for the professionals

With the fantastic new RayNeo iO and RayNeo GT Max smart glasses, there's never been a better time to jump into the world of Augmented Reality.

TCL’s RayNeo smart glasses are some of the nicest bang-for-your-buck products on the XR (Extended Reality) market today, and its offerings just got even better with the introduction of three new models. The RayNeo iO and the RayNeo GT series serve very different purposes and cater to completely polar opposite demographics and both pack some seriously impressive hardware.

RayNeo iO

Many modern smart glasses models still suffer from a very basic problem, they don’t look like normal glasses and stick out in a crowd. Great strides have been made in this regard as of late, but the RayNeo iO take it a step further.

For starters, the RayNeo iO glasses look just like what their name suggests: glasses. No one would look at these and be able to tell that they were smart glasses unless they were really paying attention, and even then it’s a coin toss on whether they see past the unassuming design.

The RayNeo iO are not equipped with cameras, so there’s no risk of secret recordings taking place or pictures being taken without the subject’s consent. Unfortunately, this also means that the iO are rather limited in their functionality, especially considering the fact that they don’t come with speakers either.

So who are the RayNeo iO for? These glasses are for users who want a capable AI-powered pair of glasses by their side all day long.

The RayNeo iO are constantly logging what you’ve done, who you have talked to, what plans you have made, and more. This digital diary then delivers reminders later on when the glasses realize that you need to follow up on something.

The RayNeo iO also feature a very basic display that can be used to check notifications, the weather, your schedule, and more. All you have to do is glance up and the glasses do the rest.

Another area where the RayNeo iO excel is live translation. When someone speaks to you in another language, the translated text shows up on the display.

RayNeo GT Max

The RayNeo GT Max, on the other hand, are performance-driven glasses that deliver the best experience that RayNeo has to offer. These glasses look like smart glasses and they look pretty stylish, in my opinion.

The GT Max are capable of displaying virtual screens as large as 307 inches while also supporting Dolby Vision when paired with the RayNeo Pocket TV 2. Additionally, 1,200 nits of perceived brightness ensure that media playback looks extra crisp no matter the lighting in your room.

An AI-driven display engine will make your 307-inch screens mesh perfectly with your surroundings. Also, in addition to the pinned and follow modes for your virtual displays, a third mode will eliminate shakiness when you’re seated in a vehicle.

To wrap the package neatly with a nice bow on top, the RayNeo GT Max also come equipped with a quad-speaker setup co-tuned with Bang & Olufsen. Whisper mode, which reduces noise leakage so people around you can’t hear what you’re listening to, has also made a return.

Simply put, the GT Max are some of the nicest AR (Augmented Reality) glasses currently available on the market.

Availability and pricing for RayNeo glasses

The RayNeo iO and the RayNeo GT series are both launching on September 4 and will be available for purchase on the RayNeo site as well as other online merchants.

Though there are no details yet on how much the RayNeo iO will cost, the RayNeo GT Max will be priced at $399. A standard version of this model — simply named the RayNeo GT — will also launch on September 4 for $299.

The standard RayNeo GT will feature slightly less impressive display technology and smaller, but still massive 231-inch, virtual screens.

A perfect entry into the world of AR glasses

Despite some hiccups every now and then, I’m still a huge proponent of AR glasses eventually replacing smartphones. Now that we know that the Meta Ray-Ban glasses leak user data and private footage, these new RayNeo glasses seem like an even better proposition than before.

There’s never been a better time to dip your toe into the world of AR glasses and, in my opinion, at only $399 the RayNeo GT Max are the best way to do so.
