Is Pixel Glow even meant for the Pixel 11 series? | Image by Android Headlines
The Pixel 11 series will be unveiled on August 12. Expected to pack a heftier price tag and a design that mostly clones the previous generation, Google's next smartphone lineup is in a precarious position. One saving grace could have been the rumored Pixel Glow feature, but newly leaked Pixel 11 Pro Fold renders are screaming at us to keep our expectations in check.

Leaker Mystic Leaks posted a high-quality render of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold today. It showcases the rumored Pine shade, a muted gray-green.
At first glance, it looks identical to the Jade Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but 9to5Google spotted a few subtle changes.

The camera bar has been shaved down, leaving hardly any excess metal around the cutouts. The main and ultrawide units reside at the bottom, with an autofocus sensor that has been relocated from above. The telephoto lens sits at the top-right corner, flanked by the flash unit to its left.
The flash appears larger than last year's, which brings us to an interesting theory.
No light strips
With the flash unit matching the size of a camera lens, could that be where the rumored Pixel Glow feature resides?
While the prevailing theory pointed toward a dedicated light strip surrounding the camera bar for the functionality, the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro Fold renders that have surfaced so far don't show any extra light indicator.
How much would Pixel Glow factor into your Pixel 11 purchase decision?
Make do
The Android 17 beta 4 code previously dropped hints about Pixel Glow, describing a hardware-based feature using lights and color on the back of devices to convey notifications and handle hands-free Gemini interactions. It evoked comparisons to the Glyph LED interface on the back of Nothing phones.

With the Pixel 11 lineup rumored to be otherwise sparse on updates, Pixel Glow was assumed to be the headlining feature.
Now, it appears that instead of a flashy notification LED system, the Pixel 11 series will simply utilize the flash unit. While Google could very well make that work, it's nowhere near as exciting as an LED matrix. Oh well.
It could be worse
Then again, maybe we are reading too much into the render. The flash might appear bigger due to the white-on-black contrast. If that's the case, we are back to square one, left wondering how Pixel Glow will actually work.
Alternatively, could it be that this feature was never meant for the Pixel 11 at all, and will instead debut on a future Pixel phone? Talk about overpromising and underdelivering.
