We’ve already seen most of the Pixel 11 series, including in official teasers for the Pixel Glow feature on the Pixel 11 Pro. Now, we’re getting one more look at the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which may not reveal almost anything new, but it does give a better idea of how the phone might feel.

Pixel 11 Pro Fold leaks in what look like official images

Weeks ahead of Google’s official launch, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold showed up in a new set of what appear to be the official marketing renders that Google may use in its own listings of the device. Shared by prolific leaker Evan Blass in his Substack newsletter, the renders clearly show the few differences from last year’s model.

The most notable change is to the camera array on the back of the phone. That’s where the new Pixel Glow LED will also end up, even though we still know almost nothing about its specific features.

It does look thinner

One interesting detail is that the new renders seem to show well the thinner chassis of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Earlier rumors claimed the new model will measure at 10.1 mm, compared to the 10.8 mm of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The renders also show the phone in the new darker green color, which we’ve seen in other leaked images. Still, the phone remains largely unchanged for a third year in a row, which may be more problematic than before.

Samsung already launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and its passport-style Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Apple is expected to join with the foldable iPhone Ultra in September. Neither of the companies is relying solely on a new color to make their phones more appealing.

This could turn into a real problem for Google, considering my colleague Peter’s opinion of its latest foldable. In his in-depth review of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, he called it “one of the laziest updates Google has released recently.”

Color-matching buds may also be on the way

Alongside the foldable’s renders, Blass also shared a couple of other images. One was of what appears to be the new Pixel Buds Pro 2 dark green version, which we’ve already seen in another leak.

Then there’s an image of a new Pixel Watch. That’s probably the Pixel Watch 5, which is also rumored to launch on August 12.

It’s time for a change

Foldable smartphones have been improving at a breakneck speed in recent years, making Google’s design strategy feel out of place. I hope this is the last Pixel Pro Fold with this design, and we get a real upgrade next time.
