It’s hard to argue that the AirPods Pro 3 are great, but they’re also quite pricey. That’s why last year’s CMF Buds 2 had such a great impact. Now, Nothing’s sub-brand is teasing a new product, which is likely their successor.
Nothing’s CMF sub-brand teases new earbuds
CMF’s X account posted a new teaser of what appear to be an earbud. The post includes an image and a text that reads “A hint of what’s next,” basically confirming a new launch is imminent.
At first, the image looks perplexing, but it’s in fact a single earbud seen from a bottom up angle. Unfortunately, the post doesn’t include any further details about the upcoming product, nor a hint for a potential release date.

While it’s still impossible to confirm it, it’s very likely that the image is the first of a series of teasers for the next generation of CMF Buds. It’s been over a year since the brand has launched the CMF Buds 2 series, which also included the CMF Buds 2a, and Buds 2 Plus. The CMF Buds Pro 2 have been launched two years ago, which makes them even more likely to get an upgrade.
In a typical Nothing fashion, we can see quite a few design details. The bud has a white stem, at least two microphones, and a metallic silver finish on the body, as well as an orange silicone tip.

At the top of the stem, which is on the bottom of the image, there’s a circle, which is probably pointing at a touch control zone. CMF’s earlier models also had this element, so we’re unlikely to see a major design shift this time around.
The exact opposite of the AirPods Pro 3
Considering the continuing memory chip crisis and the growing consumer tech prices, a new CMF Buds model could be the best AirPods Pro 3 alternative. Where Apple’s buds offer all bells and whistles at a high price, the CMF Buds are cheap and wonderfully basic.
In his in-depth review of the CMF Buds 2 and CMF Buds 2 Plus, my colleague Peter was impressed. He said you couldn’t go wrong with either of the two models, mostly because they both offer immense value and they sound great.
Hurry up, Nothing
Building excitement about new products is crucial for every brand, but I feel like Nothing is overdoing it sometimes. I hope we’re not at the beginning of a full month of cryptic messages and cropped image and we get the new buds quickly.
