Nokia is unveiling "the most awaited phone" on August 21st, all bets are on Nokia 9

Nokia is unveiling
Nokia announced on Twitter that during an event next Tuesday it will release what it calls “one of the most awaited phones”. While that sounds semi-mysterious, we’re quite sure that the new device will be company’s new flagship phone, the Nokia 9.

Unless Nokia pulls a fast one on us, we should see the latest smartphone carrying the Snapdragon 845, along with all the goodies that come with it. Some rumors have put an OLED display on the device, which, if true, might put it close to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and iPhone X not only quality wise, but when it comes to price as well.

Another cool feature it’s expected to have is an in-display fingerprint sensor. While those can already be found on a few devices, the new Nokia handset might be the one that will push the feature to the mainstream market.

A big factor for the success of the device will be its camera. When people are paying a premium price, they expect the best on all fronts, so we’re eager to see what Nokia will offer us. Two main cameras are almost a given these days, but will we see three? We’ll have to wait until Tuesday, because the Nokia 9 is a surprisingly well kept device when it comes to leaks.

Same as all Nokia branded phones from HMD Global, the Nokia 9 will also be running pure Android, and given the release date it should come with Android 9 Pie out of the box. If the engineers did their jobs right, the new Nokia could be a real heavy-hitter. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long to find out exactly what there’s in store for us.

Meh. Nothing is touching the huawei mate 20 pro and the iPhone XS plus in 2018 imo. However, I’m all up for a surprise, as it’s been a while in the smartphone industry.

Hoping they keep It on the smaller side like what they did with the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

That's Nokia 6.1 Plus most probably and not the Nokia 9. They are supposed to launch 6.1 Plus in India on 21st Aug.

Cannot be the 6.1, because that is not the most awaited phone. Hope for a 808, 909 successor!

Actually, it most probably is the Nokia 6.1 Plus. See my comment #29 below for more info.

I wish it was the Nokia 9, unfortunately it'll just be the Nokia 6.1 Plus. When Nokia starts making flagships with camera output comparable to what phones like the P20 Pro and S9+ produce I'll never buy a Samsung (or any other OEM) phone again in my life.

If it can beat Mate 20 (6.3 "16: 9), I'm ready.

I swear they better not Lenovo us.lol I'm expecting the top of the line this time from Nokia and assuming this is indeed their flagship device, it's already much more interesting than the leaked to death Note 9 announcement. See guys. Surprises are good.

Pretty sure this is the Nokia 6.1 Plus, and this is concerning its launch in the Indian market: https://nokiapoweruser.com/nokia-mobile-teases-event-for-the-most-awaited-phone-in-india/ In any event, it does signal that the Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6 in China) has gone global.

No one can touch Nokia when it comes to build quality and longevity plus nowadays they're doing great with software updates.
