Google rebranded the Fitbit app and launched Google Health back in May, discontinued the Google Fit app, and angered longtime Fitbit and Pixel Watch users in one sweep. Shortly afterward, the company started launching fixes for some of the most pressing issues with the app, something that can also be said for the latest update, which is now rolling out to iOS and Android.
Manually logging workouts in Google Health is now better
The version 5.07 of Google’s Health app is introducing three major updates for users who log exercises manually. The company says that users can now add and adjust more metrics when logging their workouts, and edits are going to show up more quickly in the workout summaries.
On top of this, users are getting the ability to log more metrics when switching from a pool to open swim exercise. The company has also improved how maps work inside the app, promising faster loading times and smoother rendering and adjustments.
Google has also fixed a bug that made maps disappear from running, biking, or walking workouts tracked with a phone. From now on, trail runs and incline runs are also going to be included in the Running Distance totals.
Some smaller updates are also coming to Google Health 5.07

A small change that could make data visualization easier to see is an update to the minimum and maximum values on the weight graph. They’re now expanded, so you can see more drastic weight changes more easily. This could be useful, especially if you want to see long-term weight changes in a single neat chart.
The update also resolves issues with Health Connect, which made some users lose connection with it. The app allows users to share health, fitness, and medical information securely between multiple applications.
Do you like the Google Health app?
Users on Reddit didn’t seem particularly impressed with the fixes in this update, and instead shared various feature requests and jokes about a bug that makes the resilience score stay low. Some of the features users need are altitude tracking during running and biking and editable HR zones, beyond the maximum heart rate.

Step by step
As small as this update appears to be, it is another sign that Google is trying to improve its Health app. I would’ve liked it more if the app were already working as it should, but seeing updates coming on a steady schedule is the second-best option.
