A feature that Google Tasks users have longed for appears to be arriving shortly

The Google Tasks app is used to manage your upcoming tasks. Create tasks and describe what needs to be done via subtasks that break down larger projects into smaller tasks. You can also set due dates, and tasks with due dates will appear automatically in your Google Calendar.
Google Tasks will sync with your devices running the same Google Account
With the Google Tasks app, you can make multiple lists to help categorize your tasks. For example, you can have a list for work errands, one for personal errands, or one for special projects. With Google Workspace integration, you can access and manage your tasks from a sidebar in Gmail, Google Calendar, Chat, and Docs. You can even create tasks directly from your emails.
Here's one of the cool things about the Google Tasks app. As long as you are logged into the same Google Account on all your devices with the Tasks app installed, your tasks automatically sync across those connected devices. This way, you can stay on top of your tasks and receive timely notifications regardless of which device you are carrying with you at the moment.
Latest version of the Tasks app includes an early look at the search icon
According to Android Authority, the latest version of the Google Tasks app includes an early look at the search icon in version 2026.08.24.96 of Google Tasks. Additionally, a string of code reads tasks_search_bar_hint >Search tasks. This could indicate that inside the search bar, it will say, "Search tasks."

All of this leaves us believing that Google is finally giving Tasks users a feature that they have longed for-a dedicated search bar. Rival apps already have a search bar, and Google Tasks users will be happy to finally have one of their very own.
Google wants the Tasks app to be a hub for all "to-dos" in the company's ecosystem
Last year, Google wanted to make Google Tasks the hub for all "to-dos" throughout the entire Google ecosystem. Any reminder with a set time or date that was set inside the Google Keep app was automatically saved on Google Tasks. Keep reminders can be viewed, edited, or checked via the Tasks or Google Calendar apps.
What do you use the Google Tasks app for?
To reiterate, starting in the second half of last year, Google Keep reminders were migrated to Google Tasks. New reminders are saved as tasks and reminder notifications are no longer sent from the Google Keep app. Instead, scheduled tasks and migrated reminders will be sent as push notifications from the Google Tasks app and the Google Calendar app.
The search feature for the Google Tasks app will be available for both the Android and the iOS versions of the app from the Google Play Store and App Store, respectively. This feature would help users navigate through a large number of tasks without having to scroll through the app, saving both time and effort.
