Commercially released almost two years ago, the stock Android-based Pixel 2
and 2 XL
were kept around
after the introduction of the Pixel 3
and 3 XL last fall, but in anticipation of the mid-range Pixel 3a
and 3a XL, the classic 5/6-inch duo was officially discontinued by Google a few months back
. That wasn't necessarily bad news for bargain hunters in love with the purest form of the search giant's industry-leading operating system, but following several killer deals
and massive discounts
, Verizon and Best Buy also pulled the plug.
Still, if the Pixel 3a and 3a XL
are too rich for your blood (not to mention their Snapdragon 845-powered cousins
), you can occasionally find refurbished variants of the Snapdragon 835-packing Pixel 2 and 2 XL
at insanely low prices on websites and at retailers specialized in this sort of thing. Case in point, Woot is selling the smaller model for as little as $189.99 today only, while charging $239.99 and up if you're interested in picking up the 6-inch version with a 90-day limited warranty.
Both 2017-released phones come in "scratch & dent" condition, which means you can expect a "moderate level of wear & tear including (but not limited to) scratches, dents, and dings. The good news is you don't have to worry about the functionality of these incredibly affordable devices, which have apparently completed various rigorous tests confirming they are indeed in "full working condition."
They're also fully unlocked and compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks, including all big four US carriers, from AT&T and T-Mobile to Sprint and Verizon. At $189.99, you can choose between black and white flavors of the 5-inch Pixel 2
with 64 gigs of internal storage space, while $224.99 will buy you the same device in a 128GB configuration and black option only.
For $239.99, you can get a 6-inch Pixel 2 XL
in an entry-level 64GB storage variant in your choice of "just black" or "clearly white" hues, and finally, a 128 gig configuration of the same device in a single black color option is available at a very reasonable price of $269.99.
In addition to silky smooth software and blazing fast updates, the Pixel 2 and 2 XL have sharp OLED screens going for them (no distracting notches or holes), exceptional cameras, and water-resistant designs. Not bad for less than 300 bucks, eh?
