Google keeps the Pixel 2 XL around at a $150 discount, Pixel 2 price unchanged
When Apple unveiled the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, last year’s iPhone X was immediately discontinued, along with a couple of older devices. Last week, Verizon ominously halted Pixel 2 sales, but while all your attention might be directed at the hot new Pixel 3 and 3 XL, it’s worth highlighting the two’s predecessors are still around.
Interestingly, the smaller Pixel 2 continues to fetch $649 and up over at the US Google Store, with the Pixel 2 XL naturally marked down from its original list price of $849 to $699. Keep in mind the Pixel 3 starts at $799, leaving just enough space for both 2017 “pure Google” phones in the (relatively) affordable flagship segment.
At the time of this writing, the unlocked “Kinda Blue” Pixel 2 is listed as out of stock, with “Just Black” and “Clearly White” units merely available in 64GB storage configurations. You can still join waitlists for 128 gig variants, though, so Google might not be planning to discontinue this device anytime soon.
Besides, Verizon-locked Pixel 2 models can be ordered right now with either 64 or 128GB internal storage in both black and white, so you definitely have plenty of options.
The same goes for the Pixel 2 XL, which is up for grabs at $699 in a Black & White 64 gig version with or without a Verizon lock, while the 128GB configuration costs $799 after a $150 discount in your choice of Black & White or Just Black.
There’s no expiration date attached to the $150 markdown of both 64 and 128GB Pixel 2 XL variants, which probably means this is now a permanent thing. Of course, if you want to save even more, you can always head over to Best Buy, but you’ll need to be cool with signing a 24-month Verizon device payment plan.
