With the Galaxy S6 around the corner, Samsung reminds us that the S5 is
Samsung is obviously very busy preparing the announcements of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, both of which will be officially unveiled next Sunday, on March 1. But the company didn't forget about its current Galaxy S flagship - the S5, which has been around since March 2014.

The short Galaxy S5 commercial that you're seeing below was aired last night on ABC, during the 87th Academy Awards ceremony. In the video, Samsung reminds us that the Galaxy S5 is dust-proof and water-proof (IP67-certified), while calling the smartphone "irresistible" and "designed to make a splash." That being said, it's not clear if the S6 will also be water-resistant.

Needless to say, Samsung still wants to sell many S5 units before the Galaxy S6 arrives (we do not know when the S6 will be available to buy, but we expect to see it hitting shelves later in March, or in April the latest). Right now, you can buy an unlocked Galaxy S5 in the US for less than $500. The question is, who's willing to get an S5, when the Galaxy S6 (plus different upcoming flagships from other companies) will be soon available?

I got mine form a Target sale on eBay for the unlocked Octa-Core version for $429. I'm happy.

There's a few better phones out there cost less than $429.

With the same quality of Amoled screen, camera, battery life, rigidness, water resistant?

Name one! Will it be IP67 rated against water and dust? Have 1080p? Multi-window? sdcard support? 2GB ram?

I forgot the S5 existed.

Only iPhones exists

S5 looks ugly, uninspiring and is filled with bloat. This is to clear the 40% stock remaining in their warehouses. Note 4 was good though. But S5, nah.

This time l agree with you.

So when I bash samsung, you agree with me. But when I say something about Sony, you get angry. Samsung fanboys will do the opposite.

Yes, I didn't like the phone design, but in the other hand I like TW much more than other UIs

Yeah, honestly it is hypocritical of him. He was about to jump out of the screen on the other thread to punch you, now he is acting like a friendly little puppy.

40%? Source please. And yes, the S5 wasn't well designed, still it sold more than the m8, G3, Z2 and Z3 combined. That's says a lot that the majority of people out there appreciate the features(call it bloat but the reality is all OEMs are taking many of those gimmicky features), and the hundreds of thousands of customizable accessories.

"sold more than the m8, G3, Z2 and Z3 combined"? Source plz lol

Dude, that's obvious. M8, G3 and Z2 and Z3 combined won't even reach 10 million. S5 sold about 40 million.

That S5 sold more than 40M in less than 6 months. That is more than all those phones combined. The S5 got off of to a great start, then sales slowed. However, it still outsold the S4. Those other guys aren't even in the top 3 of sales. You have a computer, you can go see how many of the others sold.

I didn't say they reached their initial goal, but i am pretty sure there is in no way 40% left of the S5 inventory. If that was the case, you would have seen dozens of S5 variants flooding the market with slight differences and cheaper than the original one as well. We have seen Samsung doing that a lot, and Apple once pulled a Samsung when they released the 5c. Again, i am not saying you're totally wrong, but 40% doesn't sound right to me.

He provided you the source and now you're saying it doesn't sound right to you. Lol Of course it doesn't sound right to you because you're a delusional Samesung fanboy with no brain. Have fun with your ugly overpriced plastic S5. Lol Samesung wants you to buy the S6 (S7, S8 or whatever the craps they'll release) too lol. Buy all of them! Lol

1st of all, this a 4 months old report. 2, the report clearly says that the Samsung sold "roughly" 40% less S5 units that they originally projected. This says nothing about how many S5 units were built and sold. You such at trolling dummy.

How about your source or are you just lying? Lol Have fun with your fugly laggy chromed plastic (fake metal look) overpriced Samesung S5. Lol Are you gonna buy the S6? Lol

all the sources stated was that in the first three months, the s4 out sold the s5. Doesn't give total year sales. With articles like this:http://www.androidcentral.com/htc-one-m8-appears-have-passed-half-million-mark I don't doubt that the S5 crushed all non iphone opponents.

I love Samsung but, this is how Apple fans try to justify how good iPhone is. The number of sales. They won't say what is good in the iPhone instead they say how much units did Apple sold.

i agree the s5 isnt the prettiest. the new 'A' range however is a massive design change, the a3 and a5 are really nice handsets with excellent prices

It was irresistible...for three months. I really was surprised that I had it for only three months. I thought I would have the S5 for much longer. But I am willing to consider the S6.

I hope that S5 users will get the new touchwiz interface that will be shown on the S6 and maybe then S5 software will be smooth as it should be.

10. TyrionLannister unregistered

That'll not happen. I own an S4 and I got the new TW just now after an year of s5 launch. I had to bear one year of that laggy ugly cartooish crap. The new one isn't perfect but perfectly usable. Anyway, my point is that S5 won't get it. Sammy wants you to upgrade to S6, because, more $$$.

Idk..if they upgrade S5 with android 5.1 and retain the same bloated interface I will sell my S5 and buy HTC M9 just to prove Samsung that they shouldn't mess with customers.

28. TyrionLannister unregistered

I'm interested in both M9 and S6 but I won't buy M9 to prove a point. I'll buy the superior phone. And I'm using lollipop for like 3-4 weeks. M7 users except US will get in like, forever.
