Tinder bought a video startup called Wheel, will probably roll out short videos

Judging by its latest acquisition, Tinder has plans for integrating short videos into the dating process. The household dating app bought Wheel, a startup that created a social network for sharing short video stories resembling those of Snapchat. It had the clever option of letting friends mix their videos together, inviting each other to contribute to their reels.

Unfortunately, the app never took off, despite the novel concept and investor interest. Thus, the Wheel team will join Tinder on senior and development positions. The dating app hasn't announced any specific plans for video content, but short clips seem prime for integration into users' profiles and conversations. When this service launches, it will certainly be a big announcement, and other dating apps will surely follow suit.
