T-Mobile's Motorola Moto X coming to Google Play Store?
Earlier this month, we told you that T-Mobile's CMO Mike Sievert had said that the Motorola Moto X was not heading to T-Mobile stores, at least not at first. Sievert said that T-Mobile customers who wanted the phone would be able to order one through Motorola. Earlier this week, the carrier's CEO John Legere had tweeted a message about the Moto X being available to T-Mobile customers later this month. There really isn't a contradiction between the two executives' statements. They both are simply saying that the Motorola Moto X will be available for purchase by T-Mobile customers, but not necessarily at T-Mobile stores.
Now, a leaked T-Mobile screenshot raises the confusion level a little bit more as it seems to indicate that the T-Mobile version of the Motorola Moto X will be available from the Google Play Store, of all places. That is where we expect to see the Google Play edition of the phone. The leaked screenshot shows that the T-Mobile version of the Motorola Moto X will be available at the Google Play Store at a date to be determined.
Currently, the Motorola Moto X is available from AT&T and Verizon in Woven White or Woven Black. AT&T customers can also use the Moto Maker website to build their own customized version of the phone by selecting colors for the front, back and trim of the device. Originally, Moto Maker users were going to have the option to have custom engraving on the phone, but that has been delayed. Sometime later this year, Verizon customers will also have the opportunity to order a customized version of the Motorola Moto X.
