Asus promised to update the
ZenFone 3 and 4 smartphones to Android 8.0 Oreo at some point but didn't offer a clear ETA for the release of the major OS upgrade. Today, we have several screenshots that show the new ZenUI that will run over the upcoming Oreo update for ZenFone 3.
Graphics-wise, there don't seem to be many differences between the new ZenUI and the one running on top of Android Nougat. Also, we can't yet confirm whether or not Asus
cut back on the bloatware as it promised back in August.
The good news is all the new features and improvements included in Android Oreo are there, so that's one thing less to worry about. There's a high chance that the same ZenUI skin will be applied to the
ZenFone 4 as well.
Although Asus hasn't yet announced when an Android Oreo update will be released for any of its ZenFone smartphones, we don't expect that to happen until next year. However, taken from these screenshots, it appears that work on the update has gone very well, so let's not completely rule out a 2017 release.
