Samsung tells us to "Note the date" of its August 13 Galaxy Unpacked event

Last week, Samsung announced that it would host a new Galaxy Unpacked event on August 13, without mentioning what it's going to unveil then. Today, Samsung is reminding us about the upcoming event, while also telling the world to "Note" the August 13 date. Clearly, this means that we're going to see a brand new Galaxy Note, which, as previously rumored, should be the Galaxy Note 5.

Samsung provided a new image to accompany the virtual invitation to the August 13 event. As you can see above, the image seems to be showing the contour of a device with an S Pen slot. Naturally, this device should be the Galaxy Note 5.

In addition to announcing the Note 5, Samsung will likely also unveil the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, a similarly-sized handset that shouldn't feature an S Pen, as it appears to be just a larger variant of the S6 edge that's been available since earlier this year.

Thanks to various leaks, we may have already seen both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus - check the slideshow below. Which one do you think will interest you the most?

Of course they want to take your money! $799 for a non expandable 32GB, that's a rip-off..I mean, STEAL

Barely cheaper, but the iPhones hold their used value far longer. I'll be selling both a 64gb 6 and 6 Plus and that'll pretty much cover 2 brand new Note 5's. 32gb isn't fantastic, but it's plenty for most (24gb or so after OS and bloat ware). There's also OTG thumb drives that make transfers easy.

Note series has always been the biggest and most anticipated gadget of the year since it's first launch. And 2015 is no exception....

That's debatable, but looking forward to the launch nonetheless

First time in 3 years that I will not get a Note. Already got a S6 because I just couldn't deal with the larger size. Seeing how Android OEM's want bigger and bigger I don't see any phone smaller than the S6 challenging it for 2015. I wish Motorola kept the Moto X at 5". I only prey that Samsung sticks with the 5.1" size for 2016.

So the first press release image was of the s6 edge plus.

The Note should be 32 64 and 128, if there's no SD card slot.

More like 64, 128 and 256, why have a note with only 32?

256 huh? Ask the Note 3 that question.

I disagree with both of you. For what it costs it should just be a single model with 128GB. DONE!

Nope as I said to you before it costs Samsung way more to had ufs, it's not emmc, I.e. It costs Samsung more to add 32gb of ufs, than it does for apple to add 128gb emmc to there phone It's only Samsung that as designed a cheap costing on 128gb ufs, as if they going to just give that away as the basic model, dream on

I'm holding out hope that the Note 5 will have removable battery and SD, although I doubt it.

Day one purchase for me. I'm glad everyone is complaining about the battery and sd card slot. There will be no waiting to purchase on release day. The battery should be big enough to last a day and a half and internal memory has gotten big enough and fast enough not to warrant a SD slot. If your complaining about price then this phone isn't for you it's for the big boys. Go and enjoy your g4 and htc one... The bosses will continue to run the show!

Your attitude is terrible. You sound like the "bosses" that take public transportation, but have the newest "boss phone". Removable batteries and SD are for those who have brains who can think for themselves. Ghetto culture "bosses" are incapable of independent thought and are stupid sheep.

Sounds to me like your one of the one's that can't afford to purchase and have to retort with immature banter... Grow up and think like a boss and you'll understand my comment. If you can't understand it then your the one working for me... And I know plenty of bosses that take the train to work and back because who wants to waste money on sitting in traffic when you can get a head start on your day on the train and be ready for your employee's... Boss mentality... You might not comprehend. And if you think removable batteries and sd cards equate to brains then you deserve to be exactly where your at now... Was that "GHETTO" enough for you?

Not if you using ufs, sd card do not work and if you have owned an s6 over an s5 or note 4 and used them at the same time, you soon trade in your sd card for ufs, so keep using your nes from 1990 and I keep using ufs and supper oled
