Samsung Galaxy S9 with Exynos 9810 on deck pops up in benchmark, humiliates Snapdragon 845

Now, a new benchmark entry on Geekbench seems to be giving us a sneak peek at the performance of the Exynos 9810-powered version of the Galaxy S9/S9+. Surprise, surprise, with a single-core score of 3648 points and multi-core one of 8894 points, it ekes past the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 which will power the US version of the flagships. According to a previously unearthed benchmark, the Snapdragon version scored 2378 points on the single-core test and 8132 points on the multi-core one.

A rather big difference and a clear win for the Exynos chipset, if true, of course!

As a reminder, Samsung usually puts its own Exynos chipset in the international version of its flagship, while the US variants are traditionally flaunting Qualcomm's top chipset. As a rule of thumb, Exynos-powered Galaxies normally perform better and have superior battery life than their Snapdragon counterparts, and if this recent benchmark leak reaffirms at least one of these expectations that we also hold high for the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Naturally, it should be noted right here and right now that Geekbench results could be easily faked by just about anyone with the right set of skills, but we have a hunch that the performance of the Exynos 9810 performance could really be in the ballpark depicted in this leaked benchmark result. 

What makes the Exynos 9810 click and tick? With four high-performance cores clocked at up to 2.9GHz and accompanied by another quad-cluster of efficient cores that will go easy on your battery, a super-speedy Cat.18 LTE modem that enables downlink speeds of up to 1.2Gbps and 200Mbps of uplink, neural network-based deep learning, and probably most importantly, "real-time out-of-focus photography in high resolution and brighter pictures in low light with reduced noise and motion blur", the Exynos 9810 is forming to be a beastly silicon. What's more, it's capable of recording 4K video footage in 120fps, which topples the Snapdragon 845's capability of only capturing 4K in 60 frames per second.
