Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ updated with faster face recognition at Verizon

25comments

A new update is now available for Verizon Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones, which brings a couple of enhancements and bug fixes. The highlight of the update is the improvement of the face recognition feature, which should be faster now.

There's a new “faster recognition” option that you can enable to unlock your phone faster, but that will decrease security, so Samsung recommends turning this option off.

Samsung also added a new tweak that will allow Galaxy S8 and S8+ users to interact with the navigation bar “Show and hide button” with a double tap. After the update, users will be able to double tap the lock / unlock button (instead of a single tap), which should prevent any accidental or unintentional change in the navigation bar configuration.

Furthermore, a fix for the alarm notifications on the Always-on display has been implemented too. Fixes for car Bluetooth music browser and briefing card update notification issues are included in the update as well.

Finally, many VPN and Knox improvements have been added for B2B enterprise users, as well as updates for Caller Name ID and Smart Switch.
