According to a new report published today, Huawei is working on a sequel to its original Huawei Watch. The Android Wear 2.0 timepiece is expected to have a sportier look than the original. It will be a 42mm watch with a 1.4-inch display, and buyers will get a choice of a leather or a stainless steel band. The Huawei Watch 2 could be introduced at MWC in Barcelona. The annual trade show will begin on February 27th.

The most exciting rumored feature of the wearable is the optional cellular connectivity; thanks to a built-in SIM card, users will be able to make/take phone calls and stay connected to data even when out of Wi-Fi range, or out of the range of a paired phone.

Android Wear 2.0 is expected to be released on February 9th, with two new watches to be launched. Those two devices, the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style, were jointly developed by Google and LG. Both are expected to come with the new OS build installed out of the box. Today, Google released the fifth and final developer preview to Android Wear 2.0 as the first major update to Android Wear gets ready to make its long awaited debut. The update will add Google Assistant capabilities

MWC 2017 could be big for Android Wear with the possible launch of Android Wear 2.0, the unveiling of the Google/LG timepieces and the introduction of Huawei Watch 2.
