Reminder: We'll be covering Motorola's event live tomorrow, October 18th
Motorola has teased us enough - first it posted a video entitled “MOTOROLA’S NEXT” and speaking about "Faster. Thinner. Smarter. Stronger." Then, recently it has sent out press kits with a rubik’s cube with the Motorola logo, an airplane suggesting speed and a carbon fiber styled mouse pad. Unofficially, we’re all looking forward to the unveiling of the rumored Motorola DROID RAZR, a handset said to be made with some reinforced materials, probably including kevlar, but also some top notch specs and a thin body.

Officially, though, Motorola stays mum making us wonder if we’re right about the RAZR and what else could there be. Luckily, the wait isn’t long - the company is holding a press event tomorrow, October 18th, kicking off at 9:00 am PST | 12:00 pm EST, and - of course - we’ll be covering it with a live blog, so don’t forget to check back around then.

In the meantime, here’s what we’ve heard about the RAZR so far:

- a 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD screen,
- an 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video capture,
- 1GB of RAM,
- either a TI OMAP 4430 clocked at 1.2GHz, or a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460,
- LTE connectivity.

The big question remains with the RAZR remains its operating system, though. Google is expected to unveil the new Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, later in the same day, so if the RAZR ships with the good old Gingerbread, getting updated swiftly could be a major point for its success.

harder better faster stronger :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAjR4_CbPpQ on topic: not much hope for a revolutionary design here. Their so called 'world's fastest handset' advertising campaign comes to mind. it's all words, now show me the goodies! ;)

Still just a rumor, but that's definitely an improvement over the current crop of qHD PenTile LCDs Moto has been using. Still PenTile, but at least it's AMOLED this time.

That is exactly what I am saying. Super AMOLED is better than most screens even at Pen Tile. Plus it's qHD.

That's not just any airplane - that's the SR-71, the world's fastest jet. Nice touch, Motorola.

i think that 42 number means 42Mb/s data speed just a gut feeling lol :P

it also said that the HTC Amaze has 42mbps capabilities.. but it says on the t-mobile website that 42 mbps is not available everywhere.. its written in smaller fonts down at the bottom.. so its sounds like its a rip off..

Very curious how the pentile Super AMOLED qHD will stack up to Super LCD qHD (and WVGA Super AMOLED+).

Super LCD qHD will still look the best IMO. Higher subpixel density trumps AMOLED.

Returned my Bionic Saturday. I kinda want to stick with moto though. My droid had the best call quality and resepetion. The only things that I didnt like about the Bionic were the camera and screen. Hope the RAZR can improve those two things.

Other than being thinner --don't really know what ALL the hype is over the Razr---Specs are too close to Bionic if not identical--to be a major event like what is being planned...Motorola should be fixing the D3 and Bionic before any new releases... Just my take coming from a person waiting on an OTA for my Bionic..My only complaint with my Bionic is--Data connectivity issue-which may seem miniscule to some-- but major to me as a power data user on an unlimited data plan.....Seems like I'm not getting my money's worth as I always have to use WIFI....while Verizon takes my $29.00 monthly for data in which I don't USE.....OR CAN'T USE....Still Android All the way though!!

Thinner, more resistant, possibly water resistant, faster processor, better screen. Quite a few things to hype about actually. Dont get me wrong though I liked the Bionic but RAZOR dose seem to be a nicer phone.

Much thinner than the Bionic, better screen, Kevlar, faster processor, what else do you want?

You people out that get caught up on the most redundance of detail. Ok faster.. really 1.2 or 1.0 ghz dual..will you notice that ...water resistant..what the hell..r u gonna wash dishes with it. Unbreakable...what.....do you plan on ising your phone as a hockey puck..thinner...well i will just wait and see...you cant go that thin and have decent mah of a battery..because look how thin the battery is for the bionic..and looking at the razr...total thickness is probably the thickness of the bionic battery...so dont be anazed by a few words for a phone thats basically the same as the. Bionic....width is only difference...so let see if htc throws you a bone next week and goes thinner than the bionic...are you gonna go for that bone to...dont be like that ophone crowd out there and let these carriers manufacturers perfect whats already on the market.. i mean we are already talking quad core..2.0 dual core phones...there arent even apps for single core apps fully developed...so my take is let the developers catch up to whats currently on the market...that is why fragmentation is undermining the continued success of Android. DROID DOES

Didn't mean to put you down, especially since you're having issues. But the increased clock speed, better screen and the water resistance do add up to something when taken as a whole. The industry moves ahead by incremental advances. Unfortunately for you, Moto chose to release the Bionic six months late. Also, check out the leaked photos on the RAZR. They iindicate that the RAZR will use the same battery as the Bionic.

I cant tell your tone very well through your writing, but it seems like your mad at the fact that me and gtrxman think the RAZR is a better option than the Bionic? Whats up with that man? Why do you have to take it as a personal attack on you or something? Water resistance is a great feature for ME. I've had to replace my old droid twice because of water. Once because I was tossed in a pool with it in my pocket and another time because I was watching the fire works on the 4th and it started pouring like crazy. I owned the Bionic, thus knowing that the RAZR is thinner appeals to ME. The qHD LCD screen on the Bionic is very pixilated in IMHO. So I'm hopping the amoled will look better The speed im neutral on. The Bionic was fine and I think the RAZRs will be almost unnoticeably faster. If I'm paying 299 for a phone(Amazon doesn't work for existing vzw customers) I have to make sure its something I'm going to REALLY like. So I made the decision to return the Bionic and wait for the other players coming out this year before making a commitment. Its like your out raged about "people" liking the RAZR vs the Bionic for "minimal" differences. Maybe YOU don't think a thinner, stronger, water resistant bionic is worth the hype, but that's YOU, not everyone else.
