Pulse gets its first post acquisition update
On Wednesday, the Pulse newsreader app received its first update since being acquired last month by business networking site LinkedIn for $90 million. The update brings two changes to the app with Pulse users now able to share stories with their business contacts over at LinkedIn. The second new feature allows users to save a story with one tap and send it over to Pocket, Evernote and Instapaper. Any item saved will be instantly sent to the services indicated by users in the settings menu.
A new dedicated sharing menu allows Pulse users to pass along an interesting story via Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn. Stories can also be shared via email or SMS. The update takes care of some light housekeeping on the Pulse app with some bug fixes, and some minor changes to the UI.
The update allows for LinkedIn to be integrated with Pulse in a manner that harkens back to comments made by LinkedIn's head of product and user experience Deep Nishar. On the day that the purchase of Pulse was announced by his company, Nishar said, "We believe LinkedIn can be the definitive professional publishing platform – where all professionals come to consume content and where publishers come to share their content."
