Back in March 2014, we asked you whether you use cases or covers with your smartphone to avoid accidental damage, and the majority of you said yes. But a third, which is not a small number of people by any means, said that they like going commando – whether because they detest the idea of spoiling the looks of their sexy new device or because they had some other, more specific reason.
Naturally, despite the above, we can't help but wonder if the decision to go without protection ultimately cost people. We're also curious as to how effective a case really is – most of the smartphones we see on the street aren't protected by a rugged case like the OtterBox Defender, which means that it can still be damaged by drops and bumps. Best of all, if you've been struggling with this decision yourself, perhaps the results (due Thursday) will give you some more data to work with to help you weigh the associated risks and benefits of going either way.
For the purposes of this survey, consider body scratches and bumps resulting from drops and bumps as damage, too. We're not talking exclusively about scenarios where your phone was totaled.
