Pick up the T-Mobile myTouch 4G through Thursday at no cost
A great deal for newcomers to the world of smartphones, or if you are planning on making the gift of a smartphone to one of your kids, or even if you are the type that likes to take advantage of corporate largesse, T-Mobile is offering a free myTouch 4G to those signing a 2-year contract. The deal is available online only and expires after tomorrow.
If you need a refresher on the phone, the myTouch 4G is equipped with a 3.8 inch WVGA display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon single-core 1GHz processor with 768MB of RAM aboard. Only one camera is on the unit, a rear-facing 5MP shooter that captures video at 720p and has LED flash. A VGA front-facing camera takes self-portraits and lets you video chat. Of course, the 4G in the phone's name indicates that it has HSPA+ connectivity.

Back in the day (less than a year ago) these were pretty good specs, but today you would have a dual-core processor and most likely an 8MP camera on the back of the top of the line handsets. Still, not everyone is able to handle, or even wants to handle, the power of today's smartphone. And others are more interested in the idea of getting something for nothing.
