Panasonic's LUMIX 101P brings a 13.2MP camera to Android
Japanese carrier SoftBank has announced that it is launching the Panasonic LUMIX 101P in the middle of November. Considering that many of Panasonic's products make it to the U.S., it wouldn't be far fetched to see a stateside carrier pick up this model. With the specs on this phone, a model like this could certainly find its way into the pockets of many Americans.

First of all, the main selling point on the Panasonic LUMIX 101P is the 13.2MP camera using a CMOS sensor. The 4 inch LCD display offers qHD resolution and under the hood is a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 dual-core 1GHz CPU. The handset has connectivity with the carrier's high-speed data network which runs as high as 21Mbps and offers WCDMA and GSM compatibility. The unit will run on Android 2.3 and has a few interesting little perks like a digital television tuner, an infrared connection and an E-wallet function. And for those who often drop their smartphone into the toilet, the LUMIX 101P is waterproof. Weighing in at 128 grams, the phone's dimensions are 64 mm × 123 mm × 9.8 mm. And yes, there is a microSD slot so that you can expand the storage on the device.

The Panasonic LUMIX 101P will be available in black and pink, but pricing was not revealed.  A smartphone like this could really replace your point and shoot camera, allowing you to leave your current camera at home when you go on vacation.
