OnePlus CEO uses social media to confirm February 12th launch of OxygenOS
OnePlus CEO Peter Lau turned to his Weibo account on Thursday to confirm the February 12th launch of the company's new OxygenOS. The executive put up a teaser on his site that shows four people in silhouette with the OxygenOS name near the bottom, followed by the February 12th release date. Just the other day, images from the OS leaked revealing a flat design, resembling in some ways the Material Design of Android 5.0.

A deal made between Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax and Cyanogen made things difficult for OnePlus in India. The OnePlus One is driven by Cyanogen everywhere except China, and Micromax had asked the court to ban the phone in India because of its own exclusive deal with Cyanogen. After being banned by an Indian Court in December, a little more than a week later the court order was temporarily lifted. The judge changed his mind when he realized that because Micromax's Yu phones are low-end models and the OnePlus One is a flagship device, the two are competing in much different categories of the market.

OnePlus ran a contest to name its new OS, and the person who came up with the OxygenOS name has won a 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus One handset. Speaking of Cyanogen and the OnePlus One, earlier today we told you that the next Cyanogen update for the phone will include the highly regarded third-party QWERTY app SwiftKey.
