OnePlus 5 is the company's "fastest selling device," says OnePlus co-founder

Mere hours after OnePlus officially announced the OnePlus 5 - its brand new flagship Android phone - Carl Pei, one of the company's co-founders, shared an interesting fact about the handset.

According to Pei, the OnePlus 5 is the company's "fastest selling device ever." This assertion is based on pre-order numbers only, as the OnePlus 5 won't be properly sold before June 27 (unless you can visit one of OnePlus' pop-up events).

While no exact pre-order numbers were given, it's obvious that OnePlus is more than happy with how its new device is being received. It looks like consumers around the world like what the OnePlus 5 has to offer - despite the fact that this is the most expensive OnePlus smartphone to date. And maybe we should add: also despite the fact that the handset looks a lot like an iPhone 7 Plus (at least when viewed from the rear).

The OnePlus 5 comes in two variants, costing $479 (Slate Gray model with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage space), or $539 (Midnight Black model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space). Are you tempted to get any of the two?

Too early to say something like this. The phone is just released. Samsung also claimed that the selling numbers of S8 broke all recorded, but Kantars figures showed otherwise, and now Samsung is offering its flagships on incredibly discounted prices with that trade in program.

Grammatical error, different story, also English is my 3rd language. Meanwhile PrYmCHGOan (aka TechieXP) has typos on 120% of his comments.

Op5 copied iphone 7 plus, but atleast it tried to copy some good thing from iphone. Copying good features from other device should not be considered a con. It encourages competition. But i don't think op5 will sell like op3. Most of the op3 users would prefer to wait another year. Apple and sammy loyalists don't give a s**t . Some prospective buyers of lg g6, htc might switch to op5.

I like everything about the phone, but i wonder why they only make it in 2 color varient? Their tweets made it sounds like there are going to be more options. I don't mind black, but there are people who prefer brighter colors

Its a good phone. But,its not a flagship killer anymore. It has few shortcomings as compared to other flagships-No bezel less design, still 1080p screen,no dust and waterproofing,No OIS,design looks like iphone 7 plus and Oppo R11. At the same time,It is performance beast and I think it defeats all other android phones in speed test. Also one is getting near stock android with some valuable additions in software. Camera looks very promising and can compete with flagships.Front camera EIS is working very good in stabilisation.But,4k stabilisation is average and looks like EIS is not able to handle 4k.Future software updates can address this. I think OP5 is a great phone and very few phones provides 8gb ram with 128 gb internal memory. Also I am glad they retain metal back instead of glass back.

The fact that you can actually buy the OnePlus 5, rather than being stuck with an invite system like some previous OnePlus handsets probably helps.
