Official-looking teaser image for the Sony Honami appears, launch pegged for September 4

Having gone through an extensivechecklist of leaks, ranging from specs, through actual device images down to UI peeks, today marks the day wereceive the first allegedlyconfirmed launch date for the Sony Honami, and there's even more.

Anofficial-looking teaser image for the Sony Honami has been outed onthe forum boards of Chinese Digi Wo.As you can probably make out from the images in the gallery below, the almost completely veiled teaser is a departure from what we'vebeen expecting, vis-a-vis an Xperia Z-esque design. An elegant purpleline stretches the profile of the Honami, along with a considerablymore rounded profile than we were expecting. The good folks over atthe XPERIA Blog haveprovided some close-ups that reveal the power button that's featuredon all the latest Sony Xperia smartphones, along with a flap ofunknown purpose.

Of course, there's no telling whether this image has been fabricated or not, sowe'd take this with a grain of salt if we were you. If we're todisregard this disclaimer, though, it would appear that we may verysoon have significantly more to go on: the launch is pegged forSeptember 4 and set to take place in Berlin, Germany.

That flap is long. I'm pretty sure its for the sim slot and micro sd slot.

I'm waiting for this one! A waerproof phone with a 20 MP sensor and SD 800! I hope that the battery has been improved over the XZ though. Smaller bezels would also be nice. I think that the other leaked Honami images are actually (prototypes) of the XZ plus or whatever and Sony will bring something new.

I'm a SONY fan, but I'm no longer interested in the Honami... I'm not sure if that's because of my love for the just-announced LG G2, or the leaks (I don't like the design so far). I am however, still a bit curious about what that camera will bring. Hopefully it's able to shoot all those 20 Megapixels in 16:9 and NOT the rumored 4:3 ratio.

I'm guessing this will be to the G2 what the One was to the S4: similar internals, fewer software features, a more refined UI, and more premium build. Hopefully the camera will be better though.
