The Nokia Lumia 610 has finally officially broken cover and it’s the most affordable Windows Phone we’ve seen so far. It drops it a log but how does it do it? The Lumia 610 lowers the spec requirements on Windows Phone - it requires less capable processors and less RAM.
The Lumia 610 comes with a 800MHz processor, only 256MB of RAM and a 5-megapixel camera. Low-end WP phones, for instance, will now also be able to ship with Qualcomm 7x27A chips and 256MB of RAM.
At the same time, the Nokia Lumia 610 aims to come with the same smooth Windows Phone experience, arriving with the Windows Phone Tango update on board. While Nokia said it will offer all WP features, some like Bing Local Scout and automatic SkyDrive uploads will be excluded. Software-wise you’d get Nokia's flavor with Maps, Drive, and Nokia Transport with bus and subway directions for over 500 cities that will augment WP.
Designwise, the new handset features curvy metallic edges and Nokia describes it to have a "confident feel."
The Nokia Lumia 610 price is set at around $255 (189 euro) - the most affordable we've seen Windows Phone go. It will come in white, cyan, magenta and black with the release date being Q2 2012.
