Nokia 8, is that you? HMD sends out press invites for a 'milestone' August 16 event

The resurrected Nokia brand, now offering Android and feature phones, already covered the gamut from lowly $30 burners to upper midrange handsets, and, nostalgia or not, is slowly making headway in Europe, Asia and even the US markets. The only thing lacking in the HMD Global, the new Nokia owners's portfolio, is a true flagship to wave to naysayers. That may be about to change soon, as, after weeks of color-coded leaks, a press invitations are being sent for a grand unveiling on August 16.

"HMD Global invites you to an exclusive gathering to unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones," reads the HMD event invite, and we can't help but think this is where the Nokia 8 will be coming into play. The event is scheduled for London at 7:30PM local time on August 16th (2:30pm Eastern), indicating an important step for the revamped Nokia brand indeed. As a reminder, the Nokia 8 is expected to boast a 5.3-inch QHD display, full metal body, dual 13MP rear cameras co-developed with Zeiss, a beefy Snapdragon 835 chipset, and 4GB or 6GB of RAM models.

It all sounds pretty svelte, especially if we indeed get a flagship level performance, while the price is more in line with the upper midrange category, as there is a dearth of high-specc'd phones with reasonable pricing this year, so we will keep our eyes and ears peeled for you over the expected Nokia event in three weeks or so.
