Nokia 6 finally hits the shelves in the UK, costs less than expected

After months of waiting, customers in the UK can finally purchase HMD's most advanced smartphone to date, the Nokia 6. The device was initially slated for a June release, but because HMD was unable to cope with the high demand for the smartphone, availability in many countries was postponed for a few months.

Nokia 6 is exclusively available in the UK via Carphone Warehouse. The good news is the smartphone costs less than it was originally announced. Back in April, HMD announced the Nokia 6 would be up for purchase for £229.99 in the UK, but Carphone Warehouse is selling it for just £199.99.

Moreover, customers can get it for free or for much less if they sign up for new contracts with local carriers. Nokia 6 comes in three color options: Blue, Silver, and Black. A fourth color, Copper, is not available for purchase yet.

In related news, Nokia 6 will remain the most powerful Android smartphone launched by HMD for just a little longer, as the Finnish company confirmed a launch event for August 16 where we believe a more advanced handset, the Nokia 8, will be revealed.

The reason why it's cheaper than expected is because the model being sold by CPW is the SINGLE SIM version and not the DUAL SIM version that's being sold internationally. The original pricing was based on the DUAL SIM version.

Are you sure about that? I've read that the Nokia 6 dual-SIM version has a hybrid slot. So you can either use a single SIM card + microSD card combination or two SIM cards without any storage expansion option. Are you saying that there is no SD card slot?

Yes he is right, if you go to the full specification on the carphone warehouse site and go right to the bottom under "Body" there is a big cross next to Dual Sim. This is why the Nokia 6 is so cheap and the author of the article should add this vital information to the article.

Thanks but yes I've seen that, but you can still use 2 sim cards by using the SD card slot for the 2nd sim so you could call it a dual sim version. I understood that the Nokia 5 has 2 sim slots as well as the SD card slot. I can't find any info that there is a version of the 6 with 2 sim slots as well as the SD slot.

If you go to the nokia website for the Nokia 6, under the "The details" section it says there are single and dual SIM variants. I assume carphone warehouse are selling the single SIM variant and if you are still unsure it is best to message carphone warehouse to verify if it is the single SIM variant.

Ok thanks for that - I am thinking of getting the 6 and only need a single sim phone anyway. There is a carphone warehouse near me so intend having a closer look.

Ok as correctly stated above by thommo, carphonewarehouse is selling the single SIM version. The card tray holds both the SIM and the SD card but on the Dual-SIM model the tray is slightly different and instead of fitting an SD card a 2nd SIM card can be fitted so with two SIM cards the SD card cannot be fitted. On the Nokia 3 and 5 models there is a dedicated slot for the SD card so the Dual-SIM versions can have two SIM cards as well as an SD card. I was told in carphonewarehouse that they will only ever have the single SIM Nokia 6. I had a good play with it in the shop and was so impressed that I bought one!

That's what Carphonewarehouse got to say about the phone. Flagship!! Yes, can you believe it is a f**king FLAGSHIP : "The Android-powered Nokia 6 is the flagship of the 2017 Nokia smartphone range, packed with great features for a smooth, great-looking mobile experience. Exclusively available from Carphone Warehouse." What a bunch of retards.

The term 'flagship' needs defining - the Nokia 6 is the 'best' phone of the new Nokia branded phones so it is Nokia's flagship until the Nokia 8 is released. If you regard the term flagship as the absolute best of all phones then I'm sure everyone will agree the Nokia 6 falls a long way! ......but I may buy one as value for money.
