Nokia 5 and 6 soon to get Android 8.0 Oreo beta builds

Now that HMD has finished working on Android 8.0 Oreo for Nokia 8, the Finnish company can focus on updates for two other smartphones: Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Both mid-range handsets come with Android Nougat on board, but we hope that by the end of the year they will run Oreo.

HMD's Chief Product Office, Juho Sarvikas confirmed Nokia 5 and 6 will join the company's Android Oreo beta program, just like the Nokia 8 did about a month ago. If everything goes smoothly, then Android 8.0 Oreo could hit both devices right before Christmas.

Still, since we're very close to holiday season, there's a high chance that both Nokia smartphones will receive the highly-anticipated update in early 2018. Considering that many flagship smartphones haven't yet received the update, that's not bad at all.

Well, if you want to try out Android Oreo on your Nokia 5 or 6 before HMD releases the final version, you can enroll in the beta when it kicks off.
