New version of Pixel Launcher brings back the Google search bar

New version of Pixel Launcher brings back the Google search bar
When the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL launched last year, the new Pixel Launcher came with the pair of handsets. Instead of offering the usual Google search bar, a pill shaped Google widget was found on the left of the screen, with the temperature and date found on the right. On Wednesday, there was talk of a new version of the Pixel Launcher that was appearing on some Pixel models.

Instead of offering the Google widget and the weather and date information, the new version of the launcher features a Google search bar that practically runs the entire length of the display. If you own a Pixel and prefer having the simple search bar over the widget, all you need to do is clear the data in the launcher app. That will result in your Pixel running the new version of the launcher. However, if you spent time creating a customized home screen design, it will all be wiped out.

Eventually, it is expected that Google will be sending out an update to your Pixel that includes the new version of the Pixel Launcher. Do you prefer the look of the launcher that came with the phone, or would you rather have the simple search bar that is included with the updated software?
