New Motorola DROID to have unbreakable YOUM display?
Earlier today we told you about a pair of new Motorola handsets that could be part of the DROID lineup that is exclusive to Verizon in the U.S. One model, code named the "Clark," is similar to last year's Motorola DROID Turbo with an expected 5.2-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution QHD screen and a 565 ppi pixel density.

The Motorola "Kinzie" will apparently offer a smaller 4.6-inch display, but with a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution, it would have a 639ppi pixel density. If that sounds familiar, that panel was the one originally rumored to be employed on the Gionee Elife S8 before it turned out that the latter will employ a 6-inch glass.

Some more information about the Kinzie has been published this afternoon. According to this report, the Kinzie screen will be a 5.43-inch QHD YOUM display. Motorola (and presumably Verizon) will market the device as having an unbreakable screen. The Motorola DROID line has always contained handsets built like a tank. If the screen can truly be unbreakable, the one vulnerability that DROID models had might be eliminated.

Thanks for the tip!

I have not heard any excited news from Motorola for a few years... Now it's under Lenovo, will this be the start of the "renaissance"?

A gate for a Lollipop. Well that seems convenient.

"The Motorola DROID line has always contained handsets built like a tank. If the screen can truly be unbreakable, the one vulnerability that DROID models had might be eliminated." I thought it's main vulnerability was being attached to Verizon & their archaic software/product testing. Not to mention crippling decent devices.

Like the lollipop-less Droid Turbo? Sounds about right.

You make it sound like it would be better off with lollipop. It's currently as stable as ever on kit kat.

It would be better on lollipop, and it would be even better as a non-verizon exclusive.

There is the international versions of the Verizon exclusives out there.... they don't fall uner Verizon's horribleness

This is great news if true. IDC what phone comes out with this, as long as this tech gets pushed into the market, this will be good for us as consumers in the following years.

I agree to that.

The Samsung "YOUM" display is already used in the Note Edge and S6 Edge. The thing is that they added a glass layer to protect against scratches, which in turn is... breakable. Pick your poison.

I wonder if this tech will be implemented into a retractable screen that wraps up when not used. That would be nice.

Why the fck does it always have to be A Verzon exclusive. This is what keeping me from buying a new moto. Hmpf

There's always going to be a non Verizon equivalent From moto. The same stuff will probably end up on the 2015 moto X.
