Motorola Moto Z Play appears in new photos

Motorola Moto Z Play appears in new photos
Just the other day, the unannounced Motorola Moto Z Play was certified by both Chinese regulator TENAA, and the Bluetooth SIG. Today, we have some new images of the Moto Z Play for your perusal. As we can see from the photos, the Moto Z will support the modular Moto Mods accessories. While we can't see it in these pictures, this model will feature something that the Motorola Moto Z and Motorola Moto Z Force don't have. That would be a 3.5mm earphone jack.

The Motorola Moto Z Play will be equipped with a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution. Look under the hood and you'll find the Snapdragon 625 SoC with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 506 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of expandable storage. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 16MP/5MP, and the battery is listed on TENAA as being in a range between 3300 and 3510mAh.

You can check out the new pictures of the Moto Z by clicking on the slideshow. We still haven't a clue as to when Motorola will make the handset official.

SD 652 is better than 625

Water is wet. Shaq is tall. Pie is delicious. Oh... I'm sorry, I thought we were playing a game of "state the obvious".

Yes it costs more than a SD810 as well. However it's not as power efficient so I'd take the 625 any day.

This would still be expensive, will be around or north of $550, i thought of getting it for my mom if it were around 300-400. Would still have loved it if the build quality is same as the Moto Z/Force, the back looks naked and ugly.

I think the back would be stainless steel on the final version (Idk how the magnets on the mods work but if the steel is there for magnetisation then it would make much more sense). And I hope you get it at that range, or maybe a Moto X might come for $300-$500 range.

Not interested much in Moto X. As this will be a gift to my Mom, the real requirement here is the build quality. She doesn't need a high end processor, all she needs is a beautiful phone that is fast enough. Moto phones have been one of the fastest phones these days. Moto X doesnt have great build quality. BTW, I am getting myself a Note 7 and my office is going to sponsor it for me :)

Moto X 2nd Gen should be the best built X phone of all four.

I pray it doesn't cost more than like $500 CAN. This device is all the right moves for me.

It depends on the use case. It's definitely not more battery efficient, and speed tests have shown that the Asus Zenfone 3 (SD 625) is in most cases as fast as the SD version of the S7, sometimes slower but also sometimes faster. I wish people would stop equating powerful SoCs with being the best. It's silly at best - ignorant at worst.

Do you think SD625 can handle QHD resolution as good as SD820? The most powerful SoC is simply the best!

Other than for QHD, the 625 is a better choice overall unless you're a benchmark wh0re.

625 is based A53 which is underpowered and GPU is alos weak.

No it isn't. The GPU is perfect for a FHD setup. Those 2GHz A53s perform better than Krait 400 cores. At 14nm, they're also very efficient. And unlike the 652 which has been shown to be no more efficient than the 820 and heat throttle even faster, this thing maintains performance. This mindset is why battery life isn't improving. Muscle head thinking places short term performance scores over everything else sensible and tangible.

I think 652 is built on 22 nm vs 14nm on 625. I saw the 625 in zenfone 3 reviews and it performs well with 1080p. It runs cool and is efficient.

652 is built on 28 nm.

The 652 is faster then the 625 but is not as battery efficient.
