Moto X4 on Project Fi starts getting Android 8.0 Oreo update

Despite being released in October, after Google released Android 8.0 Oreo, Motorola's Moto X4 smartphone was launched with Android 7.1 Nougat on board. However, the US-based handset maker promised an Android Oreo update will be provided soon afterward.

Although it took Motorola more than two months to keep its promise, Android Oreo for Moto X4 on Project Fi is here, so if you've bought that device, you should expect an update to arrive any day now.

The OTA (over the air) roll-out has already begun and the update weighs in at a little bit over 1GB, so make sure you have enough storage space before attempting to download it.

For the time being, Android 8.0 Oreo update is only available for the Android One version of Moto X4, but we believe the other models will get the software upgrade as well. It's also worth mentioning the update contains the December patch, which will bring the smartphone up to date when it comes to security updates.
