Microsoft confirms support for classic Skype will end on November 15

As Microsoft continues to add new features and improvements to Skype version 8, the classic app will be phased out. It's a move that makes sense as Microsoft wants to focus on the more popular app.

Today, Microsoft announced that Skype version 7 will be discontinued on November 1, on desktop devices and November 15, on mobile and tablet devices. The Redmond based company will no longer offer support for Skype versions 7 and below.

However, that doesn't mean that you won't be able to continue to use them after that date. Microsoft says that users can continue to take advantage of the older versions of Skype for a little while, but doesn't guarantee it will fix any issues that might arise.

So, in order to avoid any interruption while using Microsoft's Skype services, everyone should start using the Skype version 8. You still have until November 15 to get used with the new app if you haven't installed it yet.
