LG G Watch now available via key retailers around the world (in addition to Google Play)
LG just announced that its first Android Wear smartwatch, the G Watch, is now available to buy from Google Play and unnamed “key retailers around the world.” Of course, some folks who pre-ordered the G Watch via Google Play have already received the device.
The LG G Watch costs $229, and isn’t too different from Samsung’s Gear Live. Its features include a 1.65-inch IPS display with 280 x 280 pixels, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and a 400 mAh battery - all crammed inside a dust- and water-resistant body. The G Watch has an “Always On” screen, and is compatible with devices running Android 4.3 or later.
The G Watch should be available online and offline in no less than 12 countries: US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Australia, Japan and South Korea. Customers in other 15 markets (including Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Singapore and New Zealand) will be able to buy the smart watch only offline.

“As one of the first Android Wear devices to market, we see this as the beginning of a long-term commitment to making wearables running Android Wear a household name. We’re confident that once consumers see how useful and compelling LG G Watch can be, it will be integrated into their daily lives, just as smartphones have done,” declared Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
