Huawei P8 lite takes two bullets for its owner; company responds with a free upgrade to the P9 lite
While people call the modern smartphone a "lifesaver," they don't usually mean it literally. But 41-year old Siraaj Abrahams of Cape Town does. He was pulling into his driveway last Saturday when he was approached by a pair of muggers. One of them shot Abrahams in the chest twice. Luckily for the businessman, the Huawei P8 lite in his jacket pocket took the 9mm slugs.
Huawei officials read the story online, and the manufacturer's Marketing Director for the Sub-Saharan Africa region took Abrahams and his wife to lunch. Then, to replace the P8 lite that had been destroyed, Huawei presented Abrahams with a brand new Huawei P9 lite. All of this was gravy for the ambushed Cape Town resident, whose heart had briefly stopped after he was shot.
The world's third largest smartphone manufacturer also arranged for Siraaj to attend all home matches of the Ajax Cape Town soccer team as a VIP guest. Huawei is a sponsor of the team.
Thanks for the tip!
